unstable cursor [Posted on 2008-02-26] I've had two of these. The first became almost unusable. The second is similar, but not so bad -- so far. The cursor is unstable, and sometimes drifts when not in use. After a month on the second one I replaced it with a LogicTech mouse, which was about the same size and price, much more reliable, and easier to travel with because the cord winds onto the mouse and clips snugly with a clever clip-on USB connector.
Great little mouse [Posted on 2008-03-24] I've had one for over two years of going to school and traveling, going on location to paint, and it's never failed me. Now, there probably is some dust or gunk from my back pack that is making it more sensitive to the surface it's on, so it's time for a new one (rather than taking it apart, I'll use the old one as a back up).
It has served me well, gaming and working. I like the way it fits into my hand and its sensitivity. I have another travel mouse with a retractable cord I bought when this one began to get fidgety, but cost me twice as much, it doesn't sit in my hand nearly as well, and doesn't respond evenly when I'm gaming. I've died several times because of that other mouse!
Good while new, although cursor jumped [Posted on 2008-03-30] Pro:
1. very long cord (I no longer have USB ports in my keyboard, so this is essential)
2. Two button, one scrollwheel design easily adaptable for right or left hands
3. compact size and low profile comfortable for small hands
Con:
1. skipping cursor
2. a little picky about tracking surfaces
3. Cord attachment isn't sturdy, even with careful use. Began getting wobbly after second year of ownership, necessitating holding cord still between middle and third fingers while moving. Had to replace mouse before third year.
Fine little mouse [Posted on 2008-05-15] Bought this alongside some Microsoft and Logitech mice - to be used in an office that seems to be notoriously hard on mice.
Despite the fact that Kensington's software (Mouseworks 3.0 for MacOS X) is shockingly out of date and appears to be abandoned by the company, it's STILL superior to the drivers from Logitech and Microsoft.
The product has also done better. The Microsoft mice were asymmetrical (an evil design concept in a world of both dextrous and sinister users) and haven't held up as well. The Logitechs were fine, but some felt they were too small.
This is a nice medium sized mouse that suits both lefties and righties and it's been tough in an environment traditionally hostile towards electronic rodents of this sort. Good cheap mouse.
Works great with MacBook Air [Posted on 2008-06-30] I purchased the MacBook Air for the portability and wanted to find an equally portable mouse. The Kensington Pocket Mouse is a great product and works well with my MacBook Air. The mouse is small and is easy to slip into a small pocket on my briefcase. My only complaint is that I wish I'd seen the Pocket Mouse with the retractable USB cable. That would be the perfect traveling accessory, in my opinion.
