Looks Cool, Feels Cheap [Posted on 2008-05-30]
I am picky with my mice, and this is another mouse that I have bought that I will not be using. This review is based off three days of usage.

PROS:

Looks cool. Lightweight. I like how the buttons are low in height, close to the desktop.

CONS:

The mouse feels cheap: thin wire & type of plastic used in construction. I think the up-down tracking speed feels too slow compared to the left-right tracking. Perhaps there is software (drivers) to change the tracking settings?

Kensington Ci73 Wired Mouse, with Ergonomic Styling (K72326US)

I bought this mouse a bit apprehensively. I'm a graphic designer who was looking for something more portable than my Wacom Bluetooth tablet. I didn't think I'd find anything affordable with the same tracking resolution, but I was very pleasantly surprised to pay a nominal amount for this mouse, and it works brilliantly!

The tracking has been even and smooth on every type of surface I've used. Even when I go to cafes and work on the wooden tables the tracking is absolutely crystal clear. To top it off, the product build quality feels great and it's super-portable. It's a perfect balance between those tiny 'portable' mice you see and a real high-powered desktop mouse.

The only thing I am left wanting for is some Mac software to customise the buttons. Yes- I know Kensington has Mac software, but NOT for this mouse, so Mac users beware. However, the default values can be controlled through the default mac mouse properties menu in System Preferences.

This mouse is very comfortable and the clicks are 100% responsive. The size fits nicely into the hand. Unlike other mice that cause your hand to hurt over hours of PC usage, this mouse is comfortable in my hand after 12+ hours. Being I work on a PC all day everyday, This mouse is perfect for anything you need to do on a computer. It slides effortlessly on a mouse pad as well.
