Works great with Mac and Windows [Posted on 2008-05-26] I use this mouse with both my personal MacBook Pro and my work IBM Thinkpad T43. It is able to pair with both computers quickly and easily. The optical sensor tracks well over a variety of surfaces. The scroll wheel works both horizontally and vertically, and is recognized in both OS X and Windows.
Battery life is not as good as the Microsoft optical notebook mouse I used to use. That mouse would last about a year on one AA battery. This mouse uses two AA batteries, and they lasted almost 6 months. I do use the mouse of 8-12 hours a day, 4-6 days a week. Bluetooth does seem to use more power than the RF receivers in most portable mice, but I still consider the battery life to be adequate. Four AA batteries a year, when the mouse is used from 32-72 hours a week, is respectable.
One thing to note is that this mouse is larger than most notebook mice, in both length and height. The size is closer to that of a desktop mouse than a notebook mouse. I do not find it to be too large, and I feel the larger size is more comfortable for long periods of use. If space in your bag is at an absolute premium, this mouse may be too large. If not, then I whole-heartedly recommend this mouse.
Great Mouse [Posted on 2008-06-08] Fits easily in the hand; takes up very little space; reliable. Great mouse. I use one for my desktop and I got another one to use with my laptop.
Electronics lover [Posted on 2008-06-29] I love this mouse! Easily installs and no problems communicating with my systems Bluetooth. A nice feature is the zoom controlled wheel and rubbber comfortable grips. Thanks Kensington!
Very please with this product! [Posted on 2008-06-29] I received my new Kensington mouse about two weeks ago, and I am very pleased with my purchase. It is ready to go when I turn on my MacBook Pro, furthermore, it is totally compatible. One reviewer complained that it wasn't, however, there was clearly an oversight on her part. Another reviewer complained the battery compartment pops open consistently when the mouse is in use. I have not encountered this at all, you would literally have to be gipping it as if your life depended on it. It is good looking and very effective, I strongly recommend it!!!
Getting frustrated [Posted on 2008-07-10] As far as the bluetooth pairing and the tracking quality, I have to give this mouse a "two-thumbs up". I am currently using this mouse with a Macbook Pro and the Mac has no trouble finding the mouse when I turn it on.
The down side is the poor design of the battery compartment. The very action of slightly squeezing the sides of the mouse releases the battery door. The design is such that the contact springs for the batter are perpetually working against the retention mechanism! there is no way of adjusting the retention strength as the barbs are simply injection molded plastic.
I am a designer and I find that using this mouse for a full day of work requires reassembly on the order of 10-20 times a day. I will be looking for another mouse...
