My Dell only came with 512 megs. I upgraded earlier this year to 1.2 gigs and saw a real improvement in the speed of documents opening. However, I recently took up photography and saw a marked decline in speed, whenever i had any photo editing software open.

Since i've added the last gig, now up to 2 gig, i have no complaints. Machine boots, programmes open, everything processes, much faster now.

This has given me a lot more space to store stuff on my computer, but has not given me any more speed. I added memory with intent to add speed and that just didn't happen. I should have investigated a litle more to find the correct memory. Very easy to install!!

I bought two of these cards because the website for my laptop recommended that I add memory before trying to upgrade the CPU for performance improvement. It did improve performance and my laptop starts up faster and I can have more windows open at the same time. This was a great suggestion. It leaves me wondering how much more memory I will need later.
