Wow Pretty Impressive [Posted on 2003-04-02] Yea, I was pretty impressed with these speakers, i was like they gotta be so-so by the price but man, that really proved me wrong. I am serious these speakers sound really really awesome. They will work for either a game system like PS2 or Gamecube, but I have them hooked up to my computer cause this comes with and extension adapter that plugs into a computer sound card. Want good speakers for a VERY good price, these are them.
Horrible [Posted on 2003-05-30] I was expecting more because of the good reviews, but these are the worst sounding speakers I have ever heard. It comes with a wired remote that controls volume for the front and rear. The front speakers and sub are controled by the same knob. Every time you turn up the volume you turn up the sub, which is the most muffled sounding sub I have ever heard in my life. It sounds like it's blown. I tried playing music on my comp and the only way to make it sound close to decent is adjusting the sound using an EQ. The sound was just as bad when I tried watching a DVD. The sub made each characters voice sound like "burr burr burrr". Avoid buying these speakers. I will be returning mine as soon as possible. Invest in some better quality ones. I previously had a set of "Altec Lansing ATP3 2.1" . Those sounded awesome and were about the same price.
great buy [Posted on 2003-11-20] these speakers perform very well for my DVDs, computer games and MP3 songs; have been using these for past 2 months and absolutely no problems !!!
There only 50 bucks... [Posted on 2004-01-05] These speaker for 50 bucks are great. I have them hooked up to my computer and have left them connected since I got my room hooked up to surround sound from Panasonic. I still like how they sound, nice sub and the sats aren't bad. THe only problem I have with them is when I blast my music they become unclear, but really I only paid 50 bucks for them and they sound great when I make them loud. Nice bass, nice sats, I highly recommend.
Best sound anywhere for the price [Posted on 2005-04-05] First, as a sound tech & engineer, these are NOT 850 watt amplified speakers. Not even close to 10% of what they say it is. More like a 20 watt RMS subwoofer & 4-3 watt satellite speakers. For such an outright outragous lie, I give them 4 stars instead of 5. If they'd been truthful, I'd given 5 stars. After all, I already saw & heard the unit long before I ordered it (on display at Walgreens, but Amazon had a better price with shipping).
This is not a super-fantastic system. But it's the best sounding you'll find anywhere new, for the price.
If you like it loud, rattle the windows, & blow 'em away, they will distort if you exceed it's power limits... again, about 20 watts of subwoofer, & about 12 watts of hi-end. But if you're a normal person litening to music & video at normall levels, & don't want to be deaf by 40, there's more than enough sound here for any small room.
The subwoofer, if you don't blast it sounds very good, & is high quality. The 4 satellite speaker's frequency response leaves much to be desired, but again, for the price you won't find anything new better. It's also very small & portable so won't take up much space in a small room.
I use it in my bedroom. I have it connected to a switch box, which connects it to my computer, TV, mp3 player, & a mini radio. I'm very happy with it, but would like to upgrade the mini speakers someday.
