Great 2.1 system [Posted on 2008-08-21] The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system is simply amazing. I've coupled these with an Auzentech X-Fi Sound Card in my home computer, and I am now enjoying the best sound quality I've ever had from a computer. I use these in a relatively small office in my house, and at full volume, it is overwhelming.
These speakers produce some of the clearest, sharpest sound that I've heard from any speaker system, including expensive home theater stereos. They produce accurate, clear, rich highs and mid range sound along with strong bass if you want it.
There are two controls on the left speaker which serves as the control for the rest of the system. One controls volume and the other the bass level. I find this to be very useful to quickly switch bass levels from one song to the next.
Pros:
Powered Amp--this is a big deal if you want quality bass
Powerful 200 Watts of power
Highest quality sound from any 2.1 system I have ever heard including Bose and Harmon Kardon products.
Solid, food framed speakers and subwoofer. These speakers will out last any of the plastic stuff made by Logitech or others.
Headphone jack on control speaker
Great warranty
Cons:
More expensive than other 2.1 systems, but you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to speakers.
In sum, these speakers are awesome. I highly recommend them to anyone that wants high quality sound from a small package. My friends are always commenting on how great these speakers are, to the point that two of them have gone and purchased their own set!
Incredible Sound [Posted on 2008-08-25] I've had Logitech (5.1) and Altec Lansing speakers, and these are far better in terms of sound quality across the full range (low, mid, high). Quite simply, they are the best sounding computer speakers I've ever heard. I've been using them with my iMac for the last 8 months with no problems. Admittedly, my computer is in a smallish room and I don't need to crank the volume. Highly recommended.
Amazing [Posted on 2008-08-31] After having returned Bose companion 3 disappointed with it's performance, I bought Klipsch.
It costs less and totally blows Bose away in terms of the quality. The only advantage with Bose is that it is ergonomic and it has the 'look' factor.
poor quality warranty service is sad 6 weeks and still waiting [Posted on 2008-10-09] Speakers sound awesome. BUT sub went out in 6 months and returned it have been waiting almost 2 months they say still 10 more days for repair warranty service is terrible they must be trying to keep them till warranty is out sad for this much money. will never buy klipsch again
Perceptibly Superior [Posted on 2008-10-10] I've been an audiophile for 30 years and have owned some amazing sound equipment. A year ago I read about the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 and found people raving about them. I'd stumbled into 2.1 crap speakers from CA thinking it's just PC sound so who cares? I should have known better than that - my ears have an elitist bent that must be catered by a great sounding speaker.
I bought the ProMedias, and I'm more than thrilled. They are a joy! Until you own your own you can't imagine how clean, and totally enjoyable they are when your favorite stuff is coming out of them. With the ProMedias I don't get fatigued by bass pounding me, but yet the bass is STRONG and powerful and deep and heavy and kick butt!!! There's a bass control on the left speaker and you can set the bass to your preference in regards to how the volume complements the sound. Voices and all mids and highs are natural without sounding airy or flat. The sound coming out of these is perceptibly superior! I listen to various sources of music, and these speakers do a fantastic job of any and all of it.
Compared to the Bose PC speakers: Save your money. The Bose PC speakers are very nice, but these ProMedias are hundreds less, and sound great! I've owned Bose products in the past and have no beef with them. Do you need 4 or 5 or 7 speakers surrounding you and blasting you from every direction? OK. These aren't for you. For the rest of us they will wonderfully and effortlessly fill the room with rich, vibrant sound.
I recommend these Klipsch ProMedia 2.1s! I can't say enough good things about them. They're the best value out there period! You very likely don't need any more speaker system than these. You can't ask for better even if you're going to spend $500 or more. And the ProMedias cost less than $150 - usually around $110-130.
Rock the house!
