Not reliable [Posted on 2008-07-08] I've had these speakers for about a year and three or four months. About six months in, I started geting a staticy sound whenever I turned the volume up or down. I even got it if I just jiggled the knob without turning the volume up or down.
I started having more probles the past couple of days. I can be listening to something, and I hear a quiet "pop" and the sound goes out. Then a little while later, I'll hear another "pop" and the sound will come back. It keeps going back and forth, but the majority of the time I have no sound.
I just tested the speakers using the headphone jack and I can hear sound through the headphones, but still nothing through the actual speakers. I am also getting the static through the headphones when I adjust the volume.
I gave the speakers two stars for those reasons listed above. I think they have a really nice, clear sound, but none of that really matters if they're not going to last. I'm not sure if this is a known problem with this model of Klipsch speakers, but of course it's too late to get it checked out because the warranty only lasted a year.
Speaker died...it's a well-documented problem, so buy at your own risk! [Posted on 2008-07-20] After using a pair of these speakers for a little over a year, the left speaker started cutting off, intermittently at first and then for good. Touching the volume control on the right speaker made it switch on and off again with a loud static noise.
Prior to that I found the sound okay if not great, but always considered the speakers unexpectedly cheap-looking for a Klipsch product. Apparently they're cheaply made as well. If you're looking for acceptable speakers for your PC or Mac, my advice is to keep looking.
not good [Posted on 2008-07-27] I would give a five star to this product when I first bought it 8 months ago, the sound was just fabulous, but now, after 8 months use, one of the speaker is dying, I won't recommend a product that can't last to my friends
volume uncontrolled [Posted on 2008-08-28] My speakers are no longer usable after only a year. The volume knob is shorting out terribly. It crackles and pops and the volume jumps all over the place when I turn it. After reading the number of reviews with the same problem, I'm done buying Klipsch equipment.
Only good for less than a year [Posted on 2008-09-19] I've had these for less than a year. Very light use. I've never cranked them up real loud or had the bass up too high. Same probs as everyone else that has owned them for around a year. Sound is terrible now. Completely distorted. Touching the volume causes crackles and static. Obviously a manufacturing problem with these. They sounded grate for awhile there but for the limited time that lasts they are not worth it.
