I Want More [Posted on 2004-06-29]
I pre-ordered this game and got my hopes very high. I loved the series so much that I was hoping this game would meet all the same standards. It didn't. First, let me express that it is in no way poorly written. The graphics, as I'm sure you can tell from the other reviews, are great. The gameplay, fun. There are however two things. First, it is entirely too easy. I was able to beat it in 2 days, without actually trying. Second, it is short. The missions are not like other games I have played, where they actually keep going. These just stop. Which is an obvious attempt by Tri Synergy to make more money. All-in-all, a good game, however, you might want to wait for the next one to come out. Maybe it will be longer.

How demeaning! I can't believe they ported this to PS2. [Posted on 2004-09-21]
I, like everyone else anticipated the release of this game. Being a Knight Rider fan probably since I was a year old in 1982 I was excited to hear that this little unknown company called "Davilex" was going to make a KR game for the Playstation and PC. I thought "Heck yeah! This will sure beat having to use add on KITT-cars in NFS4!" I got my golden opportunity when I saw KR for PC selling for $5 at Game Stop.

But I was only to be let down by this shoddy representation of my fave 80's TV series. Don't get me wrong, the graphics are hella awesome and it runs incredibly well, but the gameplay and the missions are total crap. There is very little challenge at all except for those few times when you can't beat a part because your confused about what to do. You gotta go around scanning/micro-jamming things. You have to chase down suspect vehicles and bump into them to lower their "health" bar so they'll stop moving.. but where's the visible damage?

KITT is also not quite as fast as he should be (or able to jump as high). He had a normal speed of 200MPH and a top speed of 450MPH in Super Pursuit Mode. In this game you're lucky to hit 180 in SPM. The most idiotic thing about the game is having to turbo-boost from rooftop to rooftop. Hey programmer guys, wouldn't it be easier to just have Michael get OUT of the car and WALK up the stairs? Y'know he DID get out of the car quite alot in the tv show. And he had that wristwatch that KITT used to scan safes and electronic doors.

The short, enclosed battles are pretty lame too. You don't have any weapons so you just end up playing bumper cars with Goliath, whom is suprisingly easy to kill for being a huge semi with KITT's molecular bonded shell. This is of course, if he doesn't run over top of you and sit on you. Should a semi be able to rest on top of a Trans Am and it not flatten like a pancake?

Baaaaaad physics.

The battle with KARR is just as lame and his moves are as predictable as a Megaman boss. Why doesn't KARR use turbo boost, ski-mode, or any of those other things KITT has? Where's the laser they used on him in the episodes "Trust Doesn't Rust" and "KITT vs. KARR?" Where's the two drunken hobos who accidentally re-activated KARR in the first place? Y'know, Tony and The Rev? Or that guy who's girlfriend KARR threatened to suffocate by removing all the oxygen from the vehicle interior?

Then there's the voice acting. Michael and Devon sound okay I guess. KITT doesn't sound quite like he should. And KARR sounds suspisciously similar to Freeza from DBZ. Nothing at all like Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime). I think the reason this game isn't that great is because Davilex probably spent the majority of their money paying the liscencing fee for the rights to use Knight Rider for their game. After that they didn't have enough left over to hire good production staff.

They kinda figured most KR fans out thre would buy the game simply for nostaglia purposes and wouldn't be all that critical if the game sucked.

Knight Rider The Game [Posted on 2005-07-13]
This game is the most fun I've ever had within the Knight Rider idiom. The gameplay is very good. When in a mission, you can utilize many functions as often as you like. Turbo Boost, Ski Mode, and when you get it, Super Pursuit Mode. The missions offer some great improv opportunities. For example the car you're chasing may slip by a truck that's blocking the road. Your best option may be to Turbo Boost over it. (Fans of the show will love this) You get to chase a helecopter, figure out how to enter secure compounds (using Turbo Boost of course), and the like. Only some missions have time constraints, and many "tracks" open up into towns at times, so you can have some fun driving around if you like and forget about the mission. Face-offs with KARR and Goliath are inevitable, though I would have liked to have seen the tractor-trailer Goliath and not just the tractor. Also, there could have been a mission worked in where it was necessary to enter or exit the FLAG semi while it was moving. Instead you constantly enter and exit while the truck is parked. If KITT is the fastest, safest, strongest car in the world, then why is the default top speed only 124 MPh? They could have had us going at least 160 before finally screaming up to 289 when SUPER PURSUIT MODE enters the picture. Those are mere aftermarket suggestions, but I do have one gripe. Seeing as how this game came from the Northern European region, it seems they don't know how to pronounce SEMI. (sem-eye) They keep saying se-mee, and it's SUPER annoying. But that's just me. The game will leave you wanting more, but it's fun to play nonetheless. With control over graphics settings and controller layout, the game also provides for some necessary flexibility. Lastly, the look and feel of the game is of quality, and the music is well done too!

a must for all knight rider fans [Posted on 2007-05-12]
this game is so cool. once you start playing, you just can't stop. kitt is fun to drive. the turbo boost, ski mode and super pursuit mode.

Not A Bad Little Game! [Posted on 2007-07-13]
I started playing this with low expectations that this game would be no good, but I found it rather enjoyable.

You kick off in training mode, just to get used to figure out what you are doing, Bonnie sends you around a race track, first you do a lap in under a given time, then you learn to ski (drive on two wheels) then test out your turbo boost and then do another lap which you will need the turbo boost and ski to get through... it's easy enough.

Then you are ready to start the missions, there is about 15 levels, you go chasing KARR, Goliath (the truck) and Michael Knight (the bad MK, if you are familiar with the tv series, you will know who they are)

The first missions is a bit dull, you just have to speed though the road to the end in a high speed chase that you dont do anything else... then missions might require you to get to certain points, and find your way in, sometimes in a given amount of time, other you have to play demolition derby with karrs and trucks and eventually Bonnie will give you Pursuit Mode... tho, there is ways to change a bit of data in the files and have it from the beginning.

Overall, the only thing I can say is not so good about the game is it was over before I knew it, it did not take too long to get through all the levels and the ending was pretty ****.

After you have completed it, you can choose any mission you want that you have completed. It would be nice for a 2 player mode of some sort, it's kind of a game that does not have much replay value once you have completed all the levels.

This game kind of reminded me a bit of Daytona USA meets Chase HQ... some say it was like Spy Hunter, but in this game you do not have any wepeons, no guns, no laser or anything like that. What would have been cool would be if they made it along the lines of GTA and allowed you to play as MK and get out of the car and do something, but he only appears inside the car and as a graphic that comes up when there is talking going on.

Graphics: are pretty good, i did not have a problem with them. Nice to have Daytona USA Style camera selections, from the inside of kit, to a couple of areal views.
Controls: took a few minutes to get used to, but there not too bad when you work them all out and how to double push the direction your turning to skid around.
Levels: There could have been more then what is in it

Overall: I am a fan of the series and K.I.T.T, so I may have had a special interest in this one. For those who likes Daytona or Chase HQ, you might actually like this game. Others who have an urge to shoot, kill and blow things up might not like it.

=======================================

Knight Rider 2

This game follows up where the first one left off, it says 2 years later and has a mini clip showing what happened in the last game. Again it is the same set up, only this time around, K.I.T.T has some new goodies to play with. You kick off on the first mission, which is basically your training stage, but this time you and K.I.T.T have ventured into some mountains and someone has set off a whole heap of seeking missiles after you. A new way to drive comes into play, seeing K.I.T.T from the front view so you can see the missile coming from behind you, you have to avoid being hit by the missiles (steering training) then when you get down the road a bit, it goes into normal view driving to practice using the turbo boost, and jump over a few trees on the road and a blown up bridge, then some more steering, then the cool bit, you now have weapons. to pass the first stage, you just need your laser, and hold the button down and aim it and it shoots out a beam, which later in the game is used to battle Goliath and K.A.R.R and anything else you might wanna use it on if you can. There is also a plasma gun to shoot robots down with and missiles, you tap the button or hold it a second to shoot off a missile, or if you continue to hold it down K.I.T.T will prepare 5 missiles to launch at once that you will need to learn later in the game to take out laser towers and a chopper etc...

This is pretty much essential for anyone who enjoyed the first KR game. It continues the story and I said in my review of the first one that it ended sudden and I did not like the ending, well, i guess they did that to leave way for this sequel. It does have a more satisfactory ending to this one.

The game looks and feels just like the first one, and the weapon inclusion is a bonus! In this one tho, it has some bonus features. Along your missions, like the last game, you can unlock the levels to play on there own (big deal) but in this one you also unlock little KR movies. the first is a trailer for KR season 1, the rest are little clips of K.I.T.T in action from the TV Series... I suppose there ok, but it puzzles me why they have made the videos in mpeg format... you don't need to unlock them when you can just go to the folder the game is in and veiw the files on there own. Oh well, if you are someone who has to "unlock" everything for the heck of it, euhhh, whatever.

There is also a quiz and some photos of K.I.T.T... so, a few more extras then the last game and a few improvements. What can I say bad about the game? ummm, apart from what I said about part 1, not much replay value and needs some kind of 2 player mode apart from that it's an excellent follow up ... the company who made this should just release it again as a 2 cd game, or combine them into one, and you would have an overall quite awesome game that should not disappoint any fans, and is quite entertaining.. but again, like I said in the last one, once you complete it, you don't play it much again... so if they combines it, add a 2 player mode or something.

If you liked the first one, you must try the sequel, too. It wont disappoint!
