Great Minimalist Monitor for the Price [Posted on 2008-10-08]
This is a great monitor for the price that you are getting it at. I use it for casual use, and for a little bit of graphic design and programming. Unfortunately I'm only able to connect through the VGA port for now so I can't review the full quality of the picture this monitor could provide. I find the picture quality pretty amazing though compared to my old 19" dell monitor. The blacks are very black, not gray, and the whites are very white. For a TN panel colors are also pretty good, the reds aren't over-saturated like the Samsung monitors. The one thing that I do have a bit of a gripe about is that gradients are not completely smooth in transitioning, there is a little bit of banding. However, I can accept that in a $400 monitor. The next level up in a monitor could be around $275 more.

Also, even though this is a TN panel when I sitting at my desk the monitor is completely even throughout the screen. I have to lean over pretty far before I notice any changes.

One more thing, if you're connecting your monitor to an external laptop and you experience flickering horizontal lines running up and down your screen this is probably a grounding problem, or some type of electronic interference problem and not the monitor. Apparently this is a common problem, but it took me forever to figure this out and I almost returned this monitor.
