Bought this 5 weeks ago. It suddenly started sounding like a locomotive & failed. Will not start again. Cheap Samsung hard disk inside. Don't buy this piece of garbage. I lost all my data.
Not quite real 750 GB [Posted on 2008-04-30]
This is a pretty good hard drive. Quiet and fast with Firewire 800. This is my first LaCie hard drive and I have no complain about it, except it comes with nearly 700GB capacity. It's pretty far away from 750GB as it claims. Also, this drive does not work with Windows unless you reformat it to Windows compatible format. Otherwise, it works perfectly fine with Mac.

The drive seems to work just fine and not real loud. Stout case.

I've done my research before I purchased this model and I'm pretty satisfied so far. i've registered the model on LaCie website (just in case) and I've had no problems with it since I bought it. the only thing I did not like is the base which I don't use. I lay it on its side (safer for the data) and I wish they had 2 bases so I can elevated it but I'm cool with it.

Great product. Only complaint is that it arrived formatted with only about 690 GB available. Seems like a lot of overhead. E-mailed tech support and did not get a response. Other than that it is really fast and with firewire II acts like an internal drive. A bit noisy.
