Good but needs improvement [Posted on 2004-04-12] I am a Law & Order addict and was thrilled when I came across this game. I couldn't wait to get it loaded on my PC, only to find it was frought with problems! Even after upgrading my memory, installing all the patches from the software manufacturer, and cleaning out my hard drive, I still had problems running the game. The speed was quite slow and I had difficulty getting from scene to scene because of this. Despite this, I was very interested in the game and the more difficult the "investigation" proved to be, the more I wanted to see what happened next! After many times failing, I finally made it through the "investigation" and on to "the courthouse," only to have the game freeze up when I was very close to solving the case! I was livid! I am in the process now of replacing my PC system and resolved not to play the game again until the upgrade is complete. Despite all the problems, the game is quite interesting and the character roles are really close to the actual TV ones. I did have to use the hints on the manufacturer's website quite a bit, as I found the game quite challenging! After patrolling the same area several times, I finally wised up and went for the hints! Another reviewer stated that frequent saves are a must in case the game locks up and I agree completely with that statement. Saving your progress ever so often would prevent having to repeat the same parts of the game over in the event of a freeze-up or botched investigation. I am looking forward to finishing the game and will purchase the second Law & Order game that is now available. I just hope it will have less technical issues than the first.
Law & Order: Dead on the Money [Posted on 2004-05-20] This game is fun. This game makes you look and listen real good. If you like the show, you will love the game.
Would be fun if it didn't have a time frame [Posted on 2005-03-22] There is way too much stuff to be picked up and sent all over the place for testing and researching and whatnot. Unfortunately, some witnesses are only "unlocked" after you submit the right item, so unless you're quite fast picking up stuff etc. you can't solve the case within the allotted time frame.
This game would be very interesting and entertaining if they didn't cut off the investigation after a week (that's game time, not real time).
Great First L&O PC Game!! [Posted on 2006-02-11] This started a great series of PC games, I dont watch the show very much at all, but the games are great!! It is really addicting and you get to love to play the game!! I was reading through the reviews on this game, and people are complaining about the time limit. Well, if you choose the "Efficincy" skill it will slow time WAY down to the point where you will be done with the investigation part of the game before like an hour has passed. (in game time, not real time) It has a good storyline, suspicious, annoying, lying characters with secrets to protect, and it is fun to see what suspect you will interrogate next, what lab reports, research of items and people, the survailence unit to tail a suspect, the game is really fun. And when you get into court it is really hard but really fun to play, you don't even have to like the TV show, you will like this game!!! and any other of the two L&O PC games in the series. So Buy It!! Buy Them!!
Disappointed [Posted on 2006-04-07] I'd like to know who tested this game. Maybe a frozen screen is part of the game? I better not be wasting my money when I try the second version.
