Piece Of Junk [Posted on 2005-07-30] This printer is a piece of junk! It just wastes the ink incredibly fast and ink is freakin expensive! It cant load paper at all, it always jams and then tries and prints anyway, then when you do get paper through it, there are big ink lines on the back from where it was draining out. The only half decent thing is the scanner, that works good when scanning something to the computer, thats about it.
Scanner, Copier, and Printer for under $100 [Posted on 2006-01-19] At the time this was originally purchased it seemed like a lifesaver.
An All-in-One at a great price level.
The problem is....
If you don't print a lot, say 1-ream a year, the printer
seems to take notice..... I may be be overly paranoid.
I picked this up at WalMart 2 years ago.
I was very happy with it UNTIL....... I had to replace the Black Cart even though it read full ( according to the software ) after less than 200 pages.
I did so and guess what?
It started acting up aka " streaking " the print-outs after only about 3 months.
The scanner is excellent...... the printer attached sucks.
Lasted two years and stopped printing [Posted on 2006-01-29] First of all, I don't know where everyone bought their x1150s, but mine was NOT as cheap as theirs. Mine was $99 ON SALE just under two years ago. Apparently, Best Buy is NOT where you should look for a bargain!
Secondly, I have loved this printer until recently - actually, today - when the black ink stopped printing. I thought it was because the ink had run dry. I had been refilling my ink for some time without a problem. (I have no idea how the one gentleman's ink remained full for two years!! It's impossible.) So, I added ink again. I set it for a new cartridge and tried to print a shipping label for something I had sold on ebay. All I got was blank paper, despite it pretending to print. I tried cleaning the nozzles, but it only printed half of the testing lines. I tried a test print and it printed virtually nothing. I tried aligning the printing and got most of the lines just fine, but when I tried again to print the label, I got blank paper still. I have no idea what to do - there is ink coming from the cartridge, so it's not the cartridge causing the problem - unless the sensors on either the cartridge or the printer that connect to the cartridge have gone bad. My color stopped working last year. I thought it was the new cartridge I had bought not being good. Now I believe that whatever went wrong with the black printing also went bad with the color printing earlier. And, based on what I've been reading online - this is common for this printer. Two years seems to be the maximum printing life. The ink is far too expensive to mess with, especially if you live paycheck to paycheck like me. I would advise re-thinking a purchase of this - unless you plan to use the scanner more than the printer. The faxing capabilities are great, too. Weigh which use is more important before you buy.
Don't Be Fooled By the Price [Posted on 2006-05-04] A great price doesn't always mean good value. First off, the ink for this thing will cost you almost more than the printer itself. Another problem with this machine is the paper: it can't handle more than 3 or 4 sheets at a time or it will become jammed, and/or print crookedly. Not that it doesn't print crookedly half the time anyway! The life of this printer is horrible. I have taken excellent care of it, but somehow it just won't work anymore. This is a bit sad, as I purchased my printer last November and it is now only May. It lasted six months, if that, and between the paper that I had to waste to get it to print straight and the high cost of the ink, this printer is not a good buy. I would advise you to spend a few extra dollars for a Cannon or an HP, because they will last longer and save you money in the long run.
DON'T BUY! [Posted on 2007-10-24] This printer sucks up ink like no other and ink cartridges are expensive. I purchase new ones, even though the software says it's still full. Once I put the cartridges in, it will last for a few pages, then start streaking again. I tried to do the maintenance cleaning just in case the nozzles were clogged, but this didn't help either. As far as the scanner goes, it does a good job.
