Great for General Purposes [Posted on 2007-01-04] Being a world traveler and not knowing what country I'll be visiting next, this translator seemed perfect. Who knows how many of the 29 languages I'll end up using.
The word-to-word translation is pretty good, but don't look for subtle innuendos or even common slang. It also has a phrase-translation that can be quite humorous - I'm not sure when I'd ever need to translate "I want to be your slave until I die". But it does contain all the typical things a traveler would need - - stuff about hotels, train stations and sight-seeing.
It also has a world clock which is fun and useful.
All-in-all, this translator is exactly what I expected and it a very convienent size to keep in your pocket or purse.
I highly recommend it.
Great Seller [Posted on 2007-01-19] I waited until the week before Christmas to order this translator as a gift, but it was shipped quickly and arrived on time! I wouldn't hesitate to buy from this seller again.
Useless. [Posted on 2007-12-12] I bought this in hopes that it would help ease the language barrier while working as a teacher in Korea. I have found it easier to learn Korean than learning how to operate this gadget. I find a $5.00 translation book much more helpful in navigating my new world. However, I did manage to set the time on it, so it's an expensive clock.
Not worth it... [Posted on 2007-12-29] I speak 3 languages and I am trying to learn a fourth. I thought this would be a useful tool, but it has failed miserably. The translations are incorrect at times and it gives you a limited definition of a word, which can in other languages have more than one meaning. Limited vocabulary, on numerous occasions I tried to translate a standard English word, and the Lingo did not have the word in the 'system'.
Good for basic words only. [Posted on 2008-01-13] I purchased this dictionary after I saw it advertised as containing close to a half a million words!! I was dissappointed to find out it can only handle the basic words. It seems to be handy for a traveller to a foreign country where you need to ask for a basic item. I needed it for more advanced translation, and that it cannot do. It couldn't handle words like "protocol"!!!
