Great Router for open firmware. [Posted on 2008-04-25] This is a great router if you want to run linux-based firmware (such as DD-wrt or Open-wrt). However, the wrt54GS router also supports DD-wrt has more memory, is cheaper, and basically has all the same functionality. If I were to do this over again, I'd go for the wrt54GS instead.
Great buy [Posted on 2008-05-05] I am a health professional and have the least knowledge regarding tech gadgets. When we bough a new laptop,I decided to go wireless and bought this router. I was nervous having heard some tough tales of programming, security, etc. However, this router was as easy as 1-2-3. I even added a security enabled network. Great experience!
A very difficult company to deal with [Posted on 2008-05-06] This is a bad company. I purchased a wireless router from them and, truth be told, it never really worked right. The speed was ok, but it was impossible to set up without tech support and every so often it would simply stop working. When that happened I would be forced to call tech support and spend 30-60 minutes on the phone fighting with them about resetting the router. I recently purchased a new computer and decided to save a little money by moving this router to it. When I called tech support I was told that the router was out of its warranty period and they could not help me... unless I would pay them to. That's right, I would have to pay for the assistance on their product - a working product because it was not under warranty.
So be warned that you are only buying the option to use Linksys' products for a limited time - that is if you have any problems whatsoever that require tech support. I am now trying a Trendnet. Let's see if they are any better.
Robust [Posted on 2008-05-07] Easy to administer. I have owned it for approximately four months and haven't had to restart it once.
Worth the money! [Posted on 2008-05-09] At first I bought the cheap Belkin wireless router thinking I would save myself a few bucks. Bad idea. I could have been within 5 feet of the thing and lose the signal repeatedly. So, I bought this one and it has been smooth sailing ever since. Highly recommended. I am very pleased with the purchase.
