Looking for LAN? Look no farther. [Posted on 2003-06-08] This piece of hardware is perfect for a medium size LAN party. Works incredibly well, and I had no problems setting it up. Rather than trying to hook up numerious hubs to routers and having to troubleshoot the connections and finding that faulty port, just plug directly into this baby. While it does require longer cat-5 cables, just make your own 100ft-ers, its the easiest thing to do. With the 16 port switch, you can plug directly into it, and then also connect your router if needed, and the occassional sattilite hub. Works great and makes those LAN parties a cinch.
Best thing since sliced bread! [Posted on 2006-11-09] This switch is great. I replaced two older switches with this one and couldn't be happer!
Just the right Switch [Posted on 2007-01-06] That is the right switch for what I want to built inside my house, wiring all the bedrooms and the lobby with a server and one Microsoft Media Center Computer. Better speed than wireless system and better performance.
Perfect Solution [Posted on 2007-12-13] I have had this product for about a couple days now, and I have nothing but positive feedback for this switch. I originally ran out of ports on the back of my wireless routers, so I needed a switch to add some more ports. Simply plugged it in to a port on the wireless router, and plugged my other ports and worked like a charm. Had no latency problems or speed loss and actually somewhat noticed speed gains compared to the speeds I got when I was plugged directly into the router. I have 2 xboxs and I instantly was able to see them from my wireless pc and videos from my wireless pc streamed perfectly to my xbox behind the switch.
No configuration needed, the only problem I had was when i tried to mount it on the mounting holes on the back of the unit. They were shallow and when I forced it, due to frustration, I heard a click but everything worked ok. Im not sure about how it would work if you plugged a modem directly into it but im pretty sure you would need a router for sharing the modem, then add the switch behind the router and your done. Great Product :)
