No Num Lock Key [Posted on 2008-04-29] There is no Num Lock Key! I phone Logitech and there isn't even a solution to this dilemma. Therefore this keyboard was totally useless to me.
I will say it has many nice features, was easy to install, and worked very well. One can tell by the touch that it is a very high quality keyboard.
I don't understand adding so many new wonderful features, and at the same time deleting a key that is an absolute must for some users.
Excellent product, excellent support, beware of ZoneAlarm [Posted on 2008-05-03] I own this product for three months, and found it excellent. It has many nice features, very reliable. It doesn't have any interference (unlike my previus Logitech mouse and keyboard) with the other devices, although it's plugged in in the back of my computer, quite far away from keyboard. The keys are very soft.
But first I had a problem. As soon as I installed MX 5500, the keyboard and mouse started to work immediately, but not as they should. The keyboard didn't display the date and time, and the program interface was missing some tabs, including My Mouse and My Keyboard.
So I contacted techsupport by e-mail. They responded quickly and tried to help, but nothing worked. Finally I called them (I was on hold for only couple of minutes), and they said that it was probably a defective product and sent me a new one, without even asking me to return mine!
The new one had the same issue. So I decided to use it the way it was, since in general everything worked, I just couldn't configure it and there was no date and time on the screen.
But recently I found out that there was nothing wrong with the product. The problem was with ZoneAlarm Security suite that I have installed on my computer. Although I was disabling it (as well as the other startup programs) when I was installing the software, it wasn't good enough. The latest update for ZoneAlarm Security Suite (7.1.254.000 for Vista) had been released mainly to fix incompatibility with the Logitech products. As soon as I installed it - the problem immediately disappeared.
So I'm very pleased with this product and Logitech support. But if you have ZoneAlarm - be sure to update it to the latest version.
Great keyboard and mouse combo [Posted on 2008-05-04] This bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo is great. As usual, Logitech's bundled software add even more functionality to the kit. The Revolution mouse really makes the combo shine. It's trick scroll wheel that locks and unlocks based on your preference to give you either free spin scroll or clicked scroll is simply amazing. Although the screen on the keyboard is not backlit, it's till easily visible and gives you plenty of information. It was showing track information from Media Player and iTunes immediately without any configuration whatsoever. Built in buttons for Vista's Windows-Tab key combo are slick as well. Great kit overall.
Great improvement over prior model [Posted on 2008-05-13] This product has corrected all of the annoying features of the previous model from logitech. The touch-sensitive volume control has now been replaced by silmpe easy to use buttons.
This is my second logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo, and I wouldn't go back to wired. It is very useful with the built-in 10-key calculator, and easy volume control. It also has, for the Vista users, the document flip button.
Overall, I am very pleased!
Great keyboard mouse combo but can be improved better. [Posted on 2008-05-19] This is my third week for using Logitech Cordless Desktop MX5500 Revolution after using the Logitech diNovo Keyboard combo for 3 years. I am impressed how comfortable using the MX5500 keyboard compares to diNovo's. Thin and flat design diNovo keyboard is very stylish, cool and portable but not really practical feeling for daily business use. My decision for purchasing MX5500 combo over Wave set is because I like the idea of little display attached with built-in calculator and did not like the idea of Wave combo comes with compromised mouse. I gave 3 stars for this review in spite of my satisfaction of purchasing this MX5500 combo. The reason 1) is the built-in calculator Logitech named Smart Calculator does not support a Memory +, Memory - function keys on it. I am still believing I should be able to assign those memory functions on somewhere on the keyboard otherwise I will be so disappointed with Logitech who named such simple calculator as "Smart Calculator". So now, I must back to my $6.99 Staple's calculator over this $150 gadget. The reason 2) is I am not really satisfied with a scroll feeling of mouse wheel. Good thing about this mouse is I can switch from rapid scrolling to click-to-click by pressing down the wheel. This is not something I've had on my previous Logitech mouse but somehow the click-to-click wheel feeling is too loose and I see some windows jump up and down before it completely stops when I quickly toss the wheel with finger. This setting should be little stiffer and stable. Otherwise bluetooth connection is very simple and easy and Logitech is always a leading manufacturer of innovative products I can go along with.
