For years ... still the best [Posted on 2008-06-23] I've used this product for many years. I have several of them. I've investigated others, but always come back to this trackball. In terms of comfort and control ... there is nothing better.
Love it! [Posted on 2008-07-01] After years of frustration from the use of a standard mouse, I am very happy that I opted for this version. Better than any optical or other mouse I have used. Great product.
Best Trackball I've Owned... [Posted on 2008-07-13] Good. Nice trackball, with good wireless range. Far far better than a Kensington one which I used before this. Accurate, and easy to use. Highly recommended. BTW, I use this with a HTPC connected to a LCD TV, so that there aren't cables aplenty running across the living room. It serves this purpose very well, together with a wireless keyboard of course!
A Gamer's Must ! [Posted on 2008-07-18] Whether playing MMO's online or a standalone flight sim... the logitech trackman marble series is by far the best there is! The ability to do anything with a slight move of the thumb makes games where controll, timing, and speed much easier; and the cordless feature is an added bonus! I've never regretted using a trackman marble and keep a spare one around at all times.
good but has some flaws that need attention [Posted on 2008-07-19]
I have not used any other trackballs to draw comparisons, especially those where the ball is in the middle of the device, but Logitech's Trackman Wheel makes a difference. I would recommend either this or the corded version. But I prefer this because I can also controll the computer even from far (up to 5 feet I think) without many problems. You just move your finger and that is it.
But some points need attention:
1. Ignore Logitech's new drivers, even the most recent ones. They are over 50 MB and a memory hog. Install the older drivers called "Logitech Mouseware". Version 9.79 is just over 5 MB and does the job perfectly with just 1/10 in file size and installs like a breeze. No desktop messenger and no Yahoo toolbar either as in the CD-ROM. that goes only for Windows XP and lower though. For Vista and other OS there is no alternative.
2. First time I popped the cordless to the usb and installed the cd-rom drivers, the trackball refused to move. I had to plug the battery out and use another one. Another time the device failed while I was browsing and had to reinstall the drivers. I had used the newer drivers so I do not know if it will occur again with the older Mouseware drivers. So there are some stability issues, depending on your computer probably.
3. If you are using a media player or any application that uses video overlay, the trackballs configuration is set to default. That means no acceleration. You have to deselect the player and only then the trackball accelerates.
