A Simple and Well Rounded Universal Remote [Posted on 2008-07-18]
This remote is easy to setup. It replaces the existing remotes' basic functions with a quick setup process: less than 15 minutes. It is customizable: by either adding stored button settings to the LCD screen and by learning commands from the existing remote.
As the default, this remote will use settings from Logitech Harmony remote database. You need to have an account to access the setting database.
Battery charge lasts about a week with moderate use.
I used Philips Pronto TS series before. One thing I like about Harmony One, that Pronto did not have, is the Help feature. You can fix interrupted macro. Selecting an activities: watch DVD, watch TV, etc, might not turn on the correct devices or turn off the incorrect device. Before, I had to manually turn on/off the device. With the Help feature, Harmony One will synchronize your devices state (power and source) with the device states on the remote.
It is a user friendly remote for both techy or non-techy.

Finally got the Logitech remote that has the buttons separated for larger fingers. Had the 880 previously, liked how it functioned but did not like the too-streamlined design with the smaller and hard-to-accurately press the buttons. Am happy with the Harmony One. Logitech did the right things. Ordering with Amazon was easy and quick. Delivery was also quick. Good product and good service.

This is by far the best remote availacle on the market for the price! I had the Harmony 659 and 880, they were good. They new Harmony One just made a good remote control great! Very easy to set up and use with my Tivo and all my other devices. I have one con, it doesn't have Bluetooth or RF control, otherwise you can't go wrong with this!

I don't do this normally, however, I purchased a Logitech Harmony One remote this weekend, and it is amazing. If you have multiple components this remote is not only sexy and sleek but it actually works. The small touch display combined with the traditional remote covers all buttons and functions. The touch display has 'buttons' for functions not covered on the traditional universal button set like Disc3 on a changer. We have a DirecTv receiver / PVR; BluRay player, surround receiver, television with multiple inputs, 1990's cd changer, and Wii all plugged in and the remote controls them all, with the exception of turning on the Wii as it uses Bluetooth. It didn't control the CD Changer at first, however when I told the remote this it stepped me through plugging the remote back into the MAC, pointing the old CD remote at the back of the Harmony. At this point I thought I would have to 'teach' it all the key presses. Instead it asked me to press three different keys, using this it then found a different control set, and worked for the CD Changer.

In spite of reviews noting the drawback of screen based menus of the Harmony 1000 we initially tried that unit. Both my wife and I were disappointed with that unit's screen sensitivity, accuracy, and limited screen creativity that its technology would have permitted. We converted over to the Harmony One and every issue was solved in this design - buttons you get used to by feel, a great screen that does a far better job with its display menu design and a charger that eliminates the battery swap of earlier units. I'm selling the 1000 on Ebay and very, very satisfied with every aspect of the Harmony One - better design, better screen menus, and the advantage of all common function buttons by easy feel - all at a better price. Combined with Harmony's awesome web programing and technical support, his is the best of the batch!
