excellent quality [Posted on 2008-07-13] I replaced my logitech orbit MP with this webcam. It has much better quality; my skype call are as clear as ever. It's designed for a laptop but I can leave it on my desk with the stand. I would recommend this product.
Good camera. Logitech software quirky. [Posted on 2008-07-13] Camera has excellent video quality and it mounts easily and securely. However, the Logitech drivers were quirky and caused Skype to crash repeatedly - even after many reinstalls. Am now just using Windows XP camera driver with no problem.
Very good camera. [Posted on 2008-07-14] Very good product. Works with my iMac intel dual core system (OS X) even though it is USB 2.0 (vs. mac version which only utilizes FireWire). The only downside: it is a little slow, which causes a little bit of a blur when you move around during a video conference. Overall, it is a very good camera.
Replaced our OJOS with these Webcams [Posted on 2008-07-14] Since other Reviews have covered almost everything else, mine will deal with the replacement of our previous Video System which used OJOs.
Well, my Family and I had a small fortune invested in OJO Videophones, but when OJO service was cancelled with no notice, and no restoration date in sight, we all bought these.
Now, the OJO videophone is a crisp little video unit, but we are all happy about changing to this webcam, for the following reasons:
1. There's a better atmosphere surrounding a videocall when you can see the person as large as your screen. You feel more as though you have a "connection" to that person. Such is not the case with the OJO small screen.
2. Most of us use (....) the FREE service that has the "hi-definition" video, and it is terrific.
3. My Grandson (3000 miles away) is more attentive with the larger video picture and the deeper, more natural audio. It's easier for him to show me items, since the viewing are is much larger.
4. There is no extra fee for video connection, as there is with OJO.
5. We are no longer at the mercy of the OJO service providers, should their business fail or something happen to their proprietary connection system.
6. Our investment is the price of this great webcam, which is less than one-third the cost of an OJO. Also, there's no extra monthly OJO connection service charge.
7. Since most people will spend $70 for a webcam, and since most video conferencing services are FREE, you will be able to have contact with more friends and Family.
If you perform an internet search and use all of the tweaks and tips available for this webcam and the particular FREE video carrier you select, you will experience excellent audio and video. When you're not video calling, you can send EXTREMELY high definiton video emails with this webcam.
It's great to buy a product that lives up to, or exceeds, its promises.
No problems...except finding web-chat software [Posted on 2008-07-14] I'm a new webcam user and am happy with this camera. It was easy to install and easy to use. I'll be using it for communication with my daughter while she's in college. I suppose the only difficulty was with figuring out which software to use for the web-video chats. Decided to use AIM video chat. It's the easiest. Skype was overkill for what I wanted to do.
