It has good viewing quality but the voice quality is not good. It echos to the receiving party.

I bought one of these to use for SKYPE and Messenger. I had bought another cheap camera for my MOm and when we connected, hers was grainy and had to see and mine was so clear! Even in a darker room! The sound was great and so I bought another for her and returned hers. Don't settle for a cheaper camera, this one is great.

This is a great webcam. The video is clear and colorful and the price is reasonable. I use it with Skype everyday and it and the built-in microphone work very well. The controls are pretty easy to use and allow you to adjust the brightness or account for backlighting with simple slider controls if the camera's automatic settings are not quite right under unusual situations. A higher quality camera will not give an improved image because the internet connection often will not support better resolution - so, don't waste your money on more pixels unless you are just going to record video of yourself to you computer. This is an excellent value choice for a webcam to use to communicate over the internet.

This camera pretty much does what you need it to. My family and I have this one and we've had no problem with it.
Difficult to use on laptop for Skype [Posted on 2008-05-11]
I purchased this to use with my relatively new Dell laptop for Skype. When I use it, there is this background noise that keeps coming up that disables the microphone. I think it comes from the hum of the laptop itself. I've tried using the noise cancellation feature, and even removed the Quickcam away from the laptop, which seems to help a little but even still, the noise comes back occasionally and I have to wait a few minutes before the other party can hear me.
