Amazing [Posted on 2005-12-07] I got these speakers because they had an optical imput and the new motherboard I got has optical audio out. OH MY GOD, I was blown away when I fired them up and turned on the sound. The sound is crisp and clear and the bass will knock your socks off. These speakers rival any mid range (up to $1000) surround sound system out there. Well worth the money and will give you amazing sound.
Aresome Speaker system ! [Posted on 2005-12-27] I didn;t use this for pc but for home theather, was actually quite good, sub is big, i heard z5500 is bigger and fix little bit of z680 problem, so i probably won;t recommand u get z680 over z5500 or the new wireless one unless u find price much lower than those 2, but his one is aleady fully loaded, support DTS, THX, a must for DTS sound fan, however Dolby is almost not much are impress codec in this speaker. Overall Excellent value.
Shockingly Good [Posted on 2006-06-28] I have never heard a better sub-$500 speaker system - and the Z-680s only cost $229! Seriously powerful, deep bass, good highs, supports DD and DTS decoding via Coax & Optical, plus 6 channel analog and line-in... what more could you ask? My only gripe is my model developed some hissing in the speakers that was not alleviated by a quality surge protector or other similar measures.
If I could rate these babies 6 stars, I would.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
good for the price.... [Posted on 2006-12-12] When I purchased these 3 years ago, I thought I was in heaven. Amazing upgrade from my 2.0 yamaka speakers, amazing bass, amazing how they would never distort, even more amazing once i got digital working...
and then I heard a full blown home theater system which showed me exactly what the z-680's really are - popcans. No midrange, boomy bass, actually it doesnt even deserve the title of "boomy" because it simply doesnt put out a whole lot of bass without distorting and creating generally muddy sound, not to mention the lack of extension. It's alright bass for quiet music, but then why have a sub if it sucks for a movie even in a small room?
Sure this doesn't cost an arm and a leg, but save up $600 to spend, and you can get components off ebay that will make you throw this kids toy set to the back of your closet.
Logitech Z680 Speakers [Posted on 2007-03-21] These speakers are very loud and have an excellent sound to them. These are perfect to hook up to a big TV for surround. I have used mine on both computer and television and both sound amazing (enough to rattle photos off the wall). The main problem that I had with these is my center speaker went out after about 6 months of use. Logitech has outstanding customer service and not only sent me the newer upgraded speakers to the Z680, but also let me keep the Z680's as well - thus the new speakers on my computer and these are hooked up to my TV (using the TV as the center). Like I said, these are much better than most surround sound systems, and simply hooks up to composite outs. Highly recommended for the price! If I were to buy new speakers however, I might go with wireless back speakers (doesn't look good stringing wires across the house).
