An Outstanding Office Suite! [Posted on 2008-01-05]
I've been a Lotus Smart Suite user for the past 15 years. Every time I bought a new computer I've purchased the latest Smart Suite. First of all, the integration is fantastic. Most important, my favorite application in the Suite is the Approach Database. I think Approach is the most intuitive and powerful of the database applications in the various office suites out there. I built a high powered Approach database from scratch in two days that totally innovated the way my employer delivers services. In fact, I still use it on a daily basis without a hitch. However, when I recently had to purchase a new personal computer (running Vista), I discovered that IBM/Lotus had not updated the Suite for Vista; I was worried Smart Suite wouldn't work under the new operating system, so I attempted to switch to the more commonly used office suite, and began trying to switch over to their database. Here's the important comparison: I have purchased two excellent guide books on the competitor's database, and with two good books and over a month of work, the competitor's database application will not perform as smoothly and easily as Approach. Out of frustration I decided to purchase the last version of Smart Suite and give it a try running under Vista. Lucky for me, Smart Suite 9.8.1 works beautifully on my new Vista based (Intel core duo) machine. Since IBM does not offer tech support for Smart Suite operating under Vista (only under Windows XP), I hesitated to buy it. I shouldn't have hesitated. This version loaded quickly , and has operated for me in a totally smooth bug-free manner. July 2008 addition: After downloading Vista Service Pack 1, I was unable to load Approach---the computer would lock up. I used the Compatibility Wizard in Vista and told it to run the program as if it were running under XP and it continued to work fine from that point.

Best Word Processor available [Posted on 2008-08-24]
I used this word processor for 3 years and then bought a new computer and it had Word Pad. My husband then purchased the full Microsoft Office Product. I found it very unfriendly and making labels was a joke. I always liked making custom labels with graphics of different types. Lotus always allowed me to do this. Also allowed me to bar code the mailing. I even kept the label program from Lotus on my desktop. Very easy processor. I was overjoyed when I found the cd on Amazon. Thank you for stocking it. It was brand new for under $10.00 with the entire Lotus Smart Suite. Terrific! Service was also super terrific!

I have always been using Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet. With the recent purchase of a new laptop with Windows Vista OS I was concerned with the compability of Lotus Smartsuit. This version 9.8.1 was loaded without a hitch and is so far working flawlessly. I am feeling so releved.
