The case for the Next Generation [Posted on 2007-03-09] These cases are GREAT! I used one of them in my office and one of them as a point of sale computer in my business, and they have turned out so well. They are great in small places, where you would normally need a larger computer, because they stay so cool. The fans keep the cases at a near constant 35 degC and I swear I can't even hear them. Now, you gamers are really going to have a good time with it's carry bar and use of space inside. Really good for big video systems, and you can even get these with windows on the sides. Oh my god, I sound like a salesman! Only if you need dogfood....
Bigger than it seems. [Posted on 2007-03-11] This box is all that it promises to be. Except that the temperature LCD of mine is completely TILT. And no, wrong connecting is not possible since it only has a power connector and a heat sensor to put in the heat sink. So as good as this box might be, it is very possible to come with defective parts.
This box is rather BIG. If you are looking for a small inconspicuous box, this one is not. Be sure to pay attention to the dimensions in the details of this product.
Other than that this box is awesome. Is truly made of aluminum so heat conductance is appropriate. It's two fans seems to do the work and the power supply is simply excellent. It has all kinds of power connectors, for Intel or AMD chips, and for SATA drives.
Adequate case, but Ultra Products RMA policy disappoints! [Posted on 2007-07-02] I bought one of these Micro Fly cases and found it was adequate, but not impressive. The case is light, but it's soft, thin aluminum with a lot of flex. I ended up stripping out several mounting screw holes because the aluminum is so soft. Whenever I needed to remove a pci or video card I had to unmount the power supply and let it hang loose. The motherboard mounts to a tray, but it's really flimsy and didn't line up very well once it was screwed into the case. My SoundBlaster didn't work as it was bent over too much in the mis-aligned PCI slot.
They shipped a large number of these cases with the front panel headphone/microphone jacks mislabeled and switched. It drove me crazy until I read about it in online forums. Some buyers complained to Ultra and were sent a replacement cable. When I emailed & then called Ultra Customer Support, they were out of the cables, so they gave me a RMA. Their RMA policy sounds ok -- initially. They send out a replacement and charge your credit card full retail for the case. When they receive the RMA'ed case back, they are supposed to issue a credit to your credit card. I had to pay over $20 to ship the defective case back to them - which is non-refundable. It took about 60 days and several email exchanges, before they issued my credit. I don't recommend Ultra Product's products.
WARNING AMAZOM.COM IS A FRAUD [Posted on 2008-01-19] WARNING: DO NOT BUY FROM AMAZON. They are frauds. They allow third party vendors to sell under their title, when that third party vendor does NOT have the product. On January 18,2008 when I inquired as to the when an item was to be sent by a third party vendor "Gizmosforlife", I was told by the Amazon rep. that Gizmos had informed Amazon that the item was out of stock, and had canceled my order; this was done without my being informed by Gizmos or Amazon.
Yet on January 19, 2008 Amazon still listed the same item, by the same vendor which indicated it was in stock. An obvious fraud, since several days previously Gizmos had informed Amazon they were out of stock.
Clearly to advertise products known to be out of stock are attempts to keep the public from looking elsewhere. This is a warning to let you lnow not to be taken in.
Micro Fly Micro ATX Case [Posted on 2008-04-13] Purchase of the Micro Fly Micro ATX Case through Amazon proved to be an excellent transaction. Price was comparatively very good; product arrived from J&R Computer World in perfect condition and in good time. Product proved to be all it was advertised to be - an innovative and useful change in design. As other reviewers noted, assembling the computer within the case requires some patience and experience, especially with regard to the order of assembly because of the limited space and how things fit within the case, but it all worked fine. The slide-out tray for the MB neatly facilitates the work. Standard size PSU is a asset for possible problems in the future, but the 400 is sufficient for most users. Final result was excellent.
