Customer Reviews:

Legendary punk album [Posted on 2006-12-12]
This album is special to me, not only because the music is great, but because it was among the first albums that got me into punk rock. Darby Crash's lyrics were nihilistic and meaningful. There's something very dark about the songs too. All the great songs are on this collection, including my favorites (Circle One, No God, Communist Eyes, Lexicon Devil, Our Way, and Dragon Lady). Be warned, this has a much harder sound than many hardcore punk bands of the time.

What do you want?...Its the Germs! [Posted on 2007-09-18]
Your either a Germs fan or not a Germs fan. I like the Germs and am happy to have only one Germs album..."MIA: The Complete Anthology. The quality is a little rough, but give me a break, it is what it is...get it? What, my favorite songs? Sure, Richie Dagger's Crime, Lexicon Devil, Manimal, and Shut Down.

Darby was an interesting character and not the mindless monster he was portrayed as. Don't forget Pat Smear was also in the band...How old is that guy now?

I don't want to make claims or tags..."the real punkrock" "How we did it in the old days" "old school punk" blah blah blah....BUT, This is the real deal and the not the radio crap pseudo punk of today, whining and crying about girls or relationships or....WTF. "Kid" panned the Germs in his review and called them "nassally" and I suppose it is a fair opinion, but be smart, throw out the low and the high scores. The Germs (Darby) was a scary, entertaining and dangerous train wreck of a person.

Your Grandma loved the Germs.

LA Hardcore [Posted on 2007-11-04]
The Germs recordings are usually very rough, like a lot of hardcore is, but they seem to be exceptionally rough, so be ready for that. Also, you may have to listen to them a few times over before really appreciated their sound. This is very raw, stripped to the bones punk. If you like Flipper, I think you'll enjoy the Germs.

Simply amazing... [Posted on 2008-02-01]
This is an amazing collection of all of the Germs' known recordings, from the single "Forming/ Sexboy" to tracks designed for a movie (that only used one). This album is full of raucous energy and nihilistic, confrontational lyrics designed to shock and offend. From the drawn out drone of Forming, to the sing along chorus of What We Do Is Secret, this album practically reverberates with energy. From start to finish, it's a fun ride. It begins with Forming, and ends in full circle with Forming 2, in which Darby Crash namechecks Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten. One of the best punk albums ever.

And yes, this is a real review, not some record store label thing summary they give the album to sell it... I actually talk that way.

Germs - 'MIA: The Complete Anthology' (Rhino) [Posted on 2008-05-25]
Review #66. With a total of thirty tracks and most of them running the typical two-minute classic punk duration, one would assume this CD is the Germ's entire repertoire but I have it on good authority that it's not. Nonetheless, 'MIA' is still a must-have for any and all true fans of all American punk. Just a few of these tunes I liked best include "Sex Boy", "Circle One", the slap-in-the-face "American Leather", the ten-minute "Shut Down (Annihilation Man)" and "Now I Hear My Laughter". A definite gotta-have.
