Too bad it's not as slick as ice.. [Posted on 2007-01-04] The mouse design is fine for a travel mouse; not too small so that the buttons are minuscule and not so big that you can't carry it around in a normal laptop messenger bag. My two gripes are that the red optical light shines all the way through the mouse, rendering the slick white and clear design sort of useless (maybe a blue light would've been nicer?) and also that the scroll wheel is tough to move and makes more noise than desired. I guess I'll just have to wear it out a little bit. Really, though, you get what you pay for.
Slow, cheap mouse [Posted on 2007-02-12] I'm used to high-dpi mice like the Razr Diamondback. After using Microsoft, Logitech, and Razr mice, this mouse is just too sluggish and requires too much hand/wrist motion to move the pointer. I'm not sure how it could really be a travel mouse, aside from its size, since it will require a larger surface area to move the mouse pointer than using a higher dpi mouse. In addition, the mouse buttons are too flimsy, leading to too many inadvertent clicks. The scroll wheel is the opposite: it requires too much effort to scroll and makes lots of audible clicks while it scrolls. There are better mice out there for the price if you don't mind a slightly larger size. In retrospect, I should have bought a different mouse even if it meant spending 2 or 3 times the price of this mouse. I could still use a cheap Microsoft two-button plus scroll wheel mouse that I have (and when new is cheaper than this Macally mouse).
The biggest upside is that the mouse works with OSX as a regular mouse. On the otherhand, the specific drivers that were on the install CD did not work, and the drivers on Macally's website didn't work either.
Macally ice Mouse Jr USB Optical Mini Mouse -Mac [Posted on 2007-05-23] My previous mouse was this mouse and my next mouse will be too (I bought two!). I love this mouse for it's size and ability to fit my hand well (surprising, considering my hands are bigger than average).
Anyways, I believe that this is the best product for my mac out there (for a 3 button mouse).
Not what I expected [Posted on 2007-08-29] This mouse was horrible from day one. It's optical wheel just decided to move the mouse cursor like a rocket out of view every few minutes or so. Then later it fell slightly from my desktop. Came open. It was easy to put back together. But of course this totally destroyed it. It did not survive a simple impact.
It's cheap to buy and too cheap to own. Spend a few extra bucks and buy something better!
Macally Ice Mouse Jr... A GREAT MOUSE! [Posted on 2007-12-26] This is the fourth or fifth Macally mouse I've purchased since I started buying and using Macs in 1990. You can't go wrong with a Macally, and this one is compact and small enough to work well in tight spaces. I've connected it to a PowerBook G4 when I use the machine at my desk. It's very precise, and the right-click works perfectly. As usual, I had no trouble installing it for my Mac, and was able to start using it immediately. I've also purchased an Ice Mouse Jr. for my office Mac, where the space on my desk is also tight. I also own a Macally icekey keyboard which also looks and works great with my PowerBook. I highly recommend Macally products, based on my experience with them.
