The expansion pack came out about a year later after Majesty was released. This game added in 12 quests with an additional, internet-downloaded quest....This challenging add-on is proved to be much more difficult than those of the former expert's levels, which required a great strategy skills. The graphics are excellent, but the slow-down frames can ruin the fun of your game. Moreover, the hilarious voices will not lighten up your mood from the serious gameplay. At any rate, the controls respond well if your computer surpass the recommended spec. Nevertheless, if you buy the gold pack, the gold pack will not allow you to play the free quests on the internet. Therefore, you might prefer to take the advantage by buying this add-on. :)

The original Majesty was fun and after you beat all of the missions you could still make freestyle games. Then they put out the expansion, which is a great add-on, which gives more missions, more freestyle opitions, more buildings, and more spells! I highly Recommend this game.

I just got my copy of Majesty, the Northern Expansion the other day, and let me tell you, it is one heck of a good game. The original Majesty, the Fantasy Kingdom Sim, was great, but after a while, it got sort of old. But Majesty, the Northern Expansion breathes new life into the game, making it even better than it was before.

Majesty, the Northern Expansion, includes twelve new epic quests. The new quests are very challenging, and may take several tries to complete. I haven't completed any of the new quests yet. There is only one "Beginner" quest, a few "Advanced" quests, several "Expert" quests, and two "Master" quests that can't be revealed until you complete the other ten. And the original quests are still there. Plus, you now have more options for freestyle and multiplayer quests, including new player and enemy forces, wandering monsters, new special events, more landscapes to choose from, and a new feature that allows you to set limits on the types of buildings that you can build. And, there are new buildings, spells, and enemies. Your heroes also have new abilities.

I have to say that this is like no expansion pack I've ever seen. While it does require the original game to play, it is still more of a seperate program. When you install it, it appears in the start menu in a seperate folder. You can still play the original Majesty as if you have never installed the expansion simply by going into the Microprose folder. And, if you wish to uninstall the expansion, the original game will still be there.

If you're bored with the original game, get Majesty, the Nothern Expansion. It makes a great game even better!

Quests are just too hard [Posted on 2007-04-13]
I got quite good at the original Majesty but the quests in the Northern Expansion are just too hard. There's not enough variety in the game to make it interesting when you try and achieve the same quest for the tenth time, and there are too many random factors to make it much more than a gamble whether you win or lose. If I was willing to play a quest fifty times then I would probably get one where all the breaks went in my favour, but what's the point?
