If a portable hard drive is what you need, then a portable hard drive is what you will find with this.
It comes with driver that lets you to sync your directory with push of the button on it, which makes my role of "protector of the digital photos of the house" very easy.
However, I cannot give it 5 star because somehow my IBM thinkpad does not think it is there and it is driving me nuts. I can only do everything through the DELL.
Maxtor Mini - Almost fantastic! [Posted on 2008-04-05]
Great product. I didn't realize how SMALL it was until I opened it. The GREAT thing about it is that it's powered by the usb cable and is only twice the size of a pack of cigarettes so you can backup, unplug and bring to another computer or bring to your vehicle so you have "offsite" backup. The ONLY thing I'd improve is the software. It nicely syncs but isn't very configurable, and you can't leave it unattended, you have to "yes or no" some overwrites. BUT I just use my OLD maxtor one touch software or my "vice versa" and it works great. Highly recommended.

Fails in 6 months and Warranty send me a defective replacement. Called them again to get a second replacement. They have worst customer support who dont understand at all the value of time that they waste me.
If you have enough time and money to waste, go ahead and buy this unreliable product.

I don't know what it is about the included software, but this really slows my system. Further, I always get a message that the backup failed. That is not very encouraging. However, when I check the drive, my files are there. The instructions with the software are not very good. Overall, I give it a "fair." It is relatively cheap and compact but fails to give me the "peace of mind" that I was hoping for when I bought it.

Do not waste your money buying this driver, I Lost all my backup data... The hard drive always was treated very carefully.
Six years of work wasted, THANK YOU Maxtor...
