Customer Reviews:

Great printable cd's! [Posted on 2008-01-13]
These cd's have a bright white background so all your colors show up nicely. I have an Epson RX595 that prints straight onto Cd's and DVD's. The colors are brilliant. The blacks show up as really black and the colors are vivid. The CD's print beautifully all the way to the edge.

I want to like these CD-Rs but have some problems [Posted on 2008-04-04]
I recently purchased a 10 pack of these Memorex CR-Rs with Aquaguard on the same shopping trip that I purchased an Epson Stylus RX680 with direct to disk printing. For me, the selling point for these CD-Rs was that they are fully printable all the way to the hub, and don't have that clear window in the center.

As I was setting up my Epson printer, there was an insert in the box that specifically warned NOT to use any media with Aquaguard, as it would cause damage the printer. I thought long and hard about risking it, and decided to take a chance anyway and printed my first CD. The print processes seemed to go smoothly, and the disk did look very good once printed. Not sure why Epson doesn't want us to use these discs, and to be sure, I don't know if there are any cumulative issues if you print on them often, but the printing part seemed to be okay. The colors are very vivid as well.

The main issue I experienced with these disks is that they don't seem to load into a slot loading CD player very well. They seem slightly too thick and get 'caught' in the motor. As soon as I put the CD into the CD player of my Lexus GX, I noticed it required a good firm shove for it to load. Once loaded, it did play fine, but the real problem started when I tried to eject the CD. The motor kept trying to eject the disk, but the disk was caught. I finally managed to use a small thin object to un-wedge it from my CD player. Once the disk was out, I also noticed that the recordable side of the disk was pretty scuffed up, probably from the internal eject mechanism.

As a result of my experience, I won't be using these disks anymore. I guess they are okay if you are sure they will only ever be used in a standard tray loading CD player, but don't put them into a slot loading one. Hopefully Memorex can find a way to make these better as I would definitely buy them again if they can correct this issue.
