Excellent Keyboard [Posted on 2008-06-24] I am a big fan of Microsoft keyboards and mice. I have had several over the years and I consistently return to them when I need new devices.
This keyboard provided both great texture and feed back from the keys as well as all the added features I am looking for to control media. Also the addition of the F-lock key allows me to turn on and off the F buttons which for most normal applications are not used. The one draw back to that is somethings I do use the F keys for and I am still getting used to that.
The only draw back and the reason it did not earn 5 starts is that many of the earlier models of this had a built in usb hub which I found quite useful. I understand that todays usb devices require a lot of power and using this as a hub could cause power issues but still, I miss that feature, even a single port for mouse would have been nice.
LOVE this keyboard [Posted on 2008-06-24] I love the MANY extras......calculator key, mail key, internet key, 5 favorites keys, volume, and a cool zoom in and out lever for pictures and documents.
My 5 year old can use it so easily.
My 15 year old loves the feel of the keyboard when writing papers for school.
Excellent product. Highly recommended.
Best keyboard available [Posted on 2008-06-25] Not that I've tried every keyboard available but of the many I've used this is the best. I actually purchased this for my wife to use with her laptop and she absolutely loves it. It's well made with a nice feel to the keys, the programmable keys are well placed and functional and it's a nice large size. For the price I don't think you'll find anything nicer.
Computer keyboard [Posted on 2008-07-21] Product is really nice. Eash to install and almost programs itself for the functions to your computer. I bought this as a replacement for an HP keyboard that was several years old. I would recommend this to anyone. Great price, quick shipping.
One of the best modern keyboards... [Posted on 2008-07-23] I'm using this on an iMac, and like another user, I was able to map the eject button to the otherwise useless "messenger" button. Volume control/mute buttons are there, and I'm even able to adjust the monitor brightness using the otherwise useless scroll lock and break keys - something my Mac keyboard (dead from spilled lemonade) never had.
Although it suffers from the same lame placement of caps lock and control that has plagued keyboards since about 1992, Microsoft's driver allows swapping the two. The keycaps and silver case is definitely old school - which I like, takes me back to my TRS-80 days. To pick nits, I think the key legends could be bigger, we've been dealing with small, offset legends since the introduction of the IBM PC in 1981 - now that we've FINALLY gone back to black keyboards (which hide dirt), can we get large, centered keycap legends?
Other reviewers are quite right, this is one of the better keyboards to type on that I've used in recent years. The extra hot keys are handy, but what really rocks about this keyboard is the zoom slider. I use it in PhotoShop elements and web browsing all the time! I hate webpages coded with a .0000001 point font! I want to be able to read without eyestrain - this keyboard makes it possible.
I love it enough that I've come to Amazon to buy another one for work.
The other downside has been mentioned by other reviewers, no built-in USB hub.
