Better Than Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Pro [Posted on 2008-05-06] I recently bought this keyboard as a replacement to my old Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Pro keyboard. This keyboard feels better, types better, and has a much more comfortable wrist rest. Actually, of any keyboard I have tried this one is probably the best. My only complaint thus far is that the spacebar is rather loud, but I'm hoping it will quiet down a bit after I break it in a bit. FYI, I'm using this keyboard on a MacBook and have not encountered any Mac issues, everything works so far!
Natural keyboard is a natural [Posted on 2008-05-11] Have used versions of MS Natural keyboard for several years. Definitely helpful in reducing stress on wrists. This is the best implementation yet. The forward tilt initially felt "too different". After a few days, it became much more natural. The range of options - My Favorites, speaker control, and zoom are appealing, even when not used heavily. I have recently added MacBook Pro with Parallels for Windows virtual machine. Will be interested to see how this Natural Ergo keyboard works on Mac. The control and command key mapping will be a key factor in making the transition, I believe.
One consideration - you do need a good deal of deskspace for this keyboard. But with smaller footprint flat panel monitors, that's less of an issue.
BEST ergonomic keyboard! [Posted on 2008-05-12] This is really a great keyboard. The bottom part is cushioned and feels leathery. It's a really nice feel. The Zoom slider in the middle is not useful unless you find a little hack online to turn it to scrolling. Then it's super useful.
You will notice that it takes a little time to get 100% used to the keyboard. Several mistakes come with the N and M keys because they made the N button big and it's height is the same throughout (if you had Microsoft ergonomic keyboards in the past, the N is partly elevated for about half the key and then gets to it's full height). Look for pictures to see this.
But it's nothing really difficult to adjust to. If you have others come to use your keyboard you will see that they make several typos. Which could be a good thing (stay away from my keyboard!).
Great keyboard with some minor flaws [Posted on 2008-05-15] I've owned this keyboard for almost a year and I'm very happy with it. I was excited to see that Microsoft came out with an ergonomic keyboard where the Insert/Home/Page Up/Delete/End/Page Down block is oriented in a 3x2 group rather than a 2x3 group. I'm a programmer, so I use these keys all the time and I wanted the standard layout. The keyboard has a nice feel and I love the extra keys along the top. Another annoyance with my previous MS ergonomic keyboard was that the F-Lock key was always off on a reboot. As a programmer, I use the F keys all the time, so I'm happy to say that this keyboard remembers the setting.
One gripe about this keyboard is that the zoom slider doesn't seem intuitive for scrolling. You push it up to scroll down a page. That just seems wrong to me, so I don't use it.
My only other issue is that both of the back feet finally broke, so I can no longer tilt the keyboard up. I wich I could buy replacement feet.
Solid keyboard [Posted on 2008-05-15] I have to say this is my fav. keyboard I have owned. The only problem I have had is the spacebar. I have noticed it less stiff, and clicky if you press it near the center, for example clicking down on the outter edge of the bar has a more stiff feel while the center area seems less stiff. The angle at which you press the spacebar down seems to affect it alot. In conclusion a swiping motion solves alot of the stiff feeling. So it's just something you need to work on. I hope this helps some of you out there.
