Don't buy [Posted on 2008-08-19] I purchased this product two years ago and it didn't load or work. Since my laptop was so-so, I blamed the laptop. Now I just got a new laptop and the only program which does not load is this new Advatage 2009. Don't buy any products from Encore/Advantage. I put the **** in the garbage.
Excellent Product for the Price!! [Posted on 2008-08-20] I'm not sure why the other reviewer had problems loading this set onto their computer. I loaded the set fine with absolutely no problems. Since this version is the 2009, I'm not sure how the other reviewer could possibly have purchased it two years ago, but maybe I misread what was written.
Anyway, this set is wonderful! It is a great accompaniment to formal instruction and a fun way for kids to learn. The language portion is worth the price in and of itself. Similiar to Rosetta Stone except without the pictures and a lot less costly. A wide variety of subjects are covered and the iPOD materials that are downloadable are a wonderful addition. Quizzes are included in each section to help determine comprehension. Also included as a bonus is the Encyclopaedia Brittanica Ready Reference. The only thing we didn't care for was the bonus game Runes of Avalon. It has a mystical storyline, supposedly based on Merlin and Morganna from King Arthur, but it was really sort of weird. Overall, I highly recommend this product for anyone wanting a supplement to their current curriculum.
