Brand new machine failed on first use and hung computer [Posted on 2006-04-12] Brand new machine. Any machine that hangs the connected computer has got to be badly designed. The scanning of slides failed almost straight away and left my computer hung up. I packaged the thing up and sent it back for a refund. Reviews of other slide scanners suggest they are all badly designed. Why?
great little machine - once it starts working... [Posted on 2006-12-15] I was able to download the software into my pc laptop and got that working. There was a problem with the laptop recognizing the scanner, however. It turns out (after a lot of hair-pulling on my part and a call to Sony - who has taken over Minolta) that I can't have anything other than the scanner plugged into the USB ports or the scanner won't work. Once I determined that, it worked great with Photoshop Elements. It scans in 5 slides at a time fairly quickly.
Works Great [Posted on 2007-03-30] Bought as a presant. On a Pentium 4 it is still a little slow, but the pictures are great coming from slides.
Minolta scanner [Posted on 2007-05-06] Arrived DOA. Returned. Avoid.
Gets zero star rating from me.
don't buy [Posted on 2008-01-18] Came DOA from "marketplace" seller. Had trouble returning it.
Get a PLUSTEK instead - I did, for half the money, and it works great! I've scanned 1000 slides so far with excellent results.
