Don't Waste Your Money on This Product [Posted on 2007-05-02] I have yet to fix a single cd, dvd or video game disc with this type of gadget. Save yourself a whole lot of time (it is a long painstaking process), energy and money by just simply buying a replacement cd, dvd or game disc. I hope that others will learn from my mistake.
SkipDr. was able to save some sick Discs. [Posted on 2007-05-22] Pros-Skip doctor so far has been able to save several of my kids scratched up game discs that has more than paid for itself in savings of replacing expensive x box 360 games. So far 6/6 games repaired. Con-Product seems a bit flimsy in construction.Dont know if product will last with repeated use. Also refill for repolishing fluid and disc replacement a bit pricey.Sound of device in use a bit annoying.Overall would repurchase Skip Doctor again.
Didn't Work for Me [Posted on 2007-07-29] At this moment, this product has 8 5-star reviews and 11 1-star reviews. I'm afraid I'm having to make it 12. I tried to repair 2 DVDs which freeze, though neither has any particularly deep scratches. I believe I followed the directions to the letter, and even re-did it after reading some of the instructions in the customer reviews. Well, I now have 2 more coasters, 2 less DVDs, and a SkipDoctor headed for the trash bin. Very disappointing.
Best Disc Repair device around [Posted on 2007-11-18] This is the best by far. If your going to buy one buy this one because the rest dont fix 3" discs, just 5". Ive also tried the Aleratec one, and this one seems more efective. I say this because it seems like this one removes more material from the disc though leaving the surface smoother. The Aleratec just sort of lightly buffs the surface. Also the design is really good, because its compact. You store the liquid bottle and both cloths within the device itself and the disc holder on the side. The people that complain that their discs are warped is because you have to spay the disc with the liquid provided to keep the temperature down. Theres friction here. The only donwnside however, is that it is LOUD. Dont be worried about the patter that this makes on the disc, its normal and that the purpose of the whole thing, this makes it easier for the lens to read the data.
As advertised. [Posted on 2007-12-17] I've used the SkipDoctor on mutiple CDs that wouldn't play all the way through and every one works without flaws now. I even used it on a blank that was scratched enough that I worried whether or not I should dare burn to it. After using the SkipDoctor I was able to burn to the disk without problems and playback is just as flawless.
Follow the instructions and this thing works exactly as advertised. I highly recommend it to anyone who has disks that need some maintenance.
