Perfect [Posted on 2008-06-08] Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Bluetooth Active Headphones [Motorola Retail Packaging]
Great acquisition! Just loved it.. works perfectly
Good sound!
In the first couple of days it's a little uncomfortable but then it adjusts and fits perfectly.
Don't pay full price [Posted on 2008-06-20] Pros:
* Nice stereo audio quality
* Comfortable. (This might not be true if you have thick-framed glasses.)
* Inconspicuous, no big blue lights flashing on the side of your head. From the front, it's hard to tell that you're wearing headphones without looking closely.
* Some features work as promised, pauses when answering phone call, music resumes after hanging up.
Cons:
* Handsfree function: The handsfree microphone is in the right ear and not very clear, the handset audio is left ear only. In wind it is useless; in a noisy environment, it is very poor. In a quiet environment, it is usable. Don't get it if you want a good voice headset.
* The buttons for forward and backward are very sensitive on my unit. This is a problem because the play/pause button is smack dab between them and they are all so small that you have to feel around to orient you finger to find any of them. If I'm not *very careful*, I'll hit backward or forward in the process and lose my place. This poses a real problem with audio books.
* If the music transmitter device is in my front pants pockets, the signal constantly starts and stops. This was really bad with the Jabra A125s iPod adapter, and merely unacceptable streaming from a BlackBerry 8330 Curve. If the transmitter is carried in a backpack, it hardly cuts out at all. Maybe it's all the iron in my blood, but it doesn't seem to travel well through my person. I tried my back pants pockets and still no better.
* Battery life needs work. You can't use this if you listen to music all day.
* I keep having to re-pair it every time I turn it on. Maybe it's because I hop around between 3-4 devices so often, but it is supposed to keep pairings for 8 devices. Still haven't figured this out.
Summary: I give it 2 stars for good audio quality when the signal stays connected.
Great for Leisure. Poor for the Gym! [Posted on 2008-06-26] I loved these headphones the first week I had them. The sound is great, they have a comfortable fit and great side buttons. My problem is that I am currently in the process of returning my second pair. These headphone ARE NOT WATERPROOF. I bought these headphones to use at the gym, but for the second time, I'm having to bring them out becuase my sweat has destroyed them. The first time, it took be about 3 weeks to ruin them, and this time just took 2 weeks. I knew I had enough stamina to do that extra 10 minutes of cardio, unfortunately the S9 could not keep out with the sweat and shorted out. If you're not a chronic sweater at the gym or if you just want these to walk the dog, this is a great pair of headphones. If you do plan on sweating a lot, DO NOT GET FOOLED BY THE ILLUSION THAT THESE HEADPHONES ARE WATERPROOF.
Disappointment [Posted on 2008-06-28] I read several reviews that said that this product was excellent. However, when I got it everyone who I talked to on the phone could barely hear me and then the right ear piece konked out. I was disappointed and got a refund.
they are not water resistant [Posted on 2008-07-01] I bought these in mind with working out at the gym since that is what their target market is. I ended up going thru a head set once a month as my sweat ended up shorting out the unit in about 3 weeks of use. All said and done I ended up going thru 6-7 headsets before the verizon store got tired of replacing my unit and offered me another option. If the headset could take some sweat and not short out at all I'd give it a 5. Due to the lack of water resistance I'd say pass if your looking to use this as your headset for working out.
