Paintball: Works well in the woods [Posted on 2007-12-05] I bought the Talkabout SX700R to use for scenario paintball and the SPPL, and I have been pleased with it. I carry it on my (on-gun) tank so I can use it while aiming. It is easy to push the buttons with gloves on, I can hear what everyone is saying (as long as I don't put it in my pants pocket) and I can quickly and easily turn the volume up and down. Plus, I can set it to vibrate when I get a call, so I can turn off the alert. The field I usually play is about 400 acres, laid out long and narrow. I can easily get a hold of teammates that are 1/4 mile away from me through the trees. I haven't had to try it much further than that. I never have break-up when people talk, though if they aren't holding thier radios correctly they can be hard to understand. The radio is sealed well. It has been shot, dropped on the ground, dropped in mud, etc. and always works. The clips are kind of junk, though. I broke one already.
All in all, I can recommend this radio for paintball.

Walkie talkie [Posted on 2007-12-30] These are great, have used them for a year now and no problems....in fact I bought another pair for a friend for Christmas this year. We use them while going to and from car shows and cruise inns to communicate, we are seldom more than a mile apart and have saved a lot of trouble by being able to talk to each other
Talkabout radios [Posted on 2008-01-09] I was happy with the prompt mailing and of the quality of radios that were delivered.
I would use this vendor again
Can't complain but will [Posted on 2008-04-06] These are great radio's. I hate mine because it will not die. I work in an industrial plant and we use these to communicate across the plant. So mine gets quite a bit of abuse because I wear it around my neck. I have had this radio apart several times to get metal off the speaker, resolder the antenna on, resolder the battery terminal on the board, I have even hit the face of the display and PC board inside while apart with a 32oz ball pein hammer trying to put my radio out of service. TWICE!! The display still works, the radio is still fully functional. Only thing is the radio is going to outlast the batteries I have for it.
My main reason for not liking this radio is that I wear it around my neck and although it is one of the smaller radio's there are it is a little bulky around the neck for 8-12hrs. I am looking at another set of motorola's that are just a tad bit smaller like my co-worker has.
I don't see how you can go wrong with these radio's in even a harsh enviroment like I put them in. They would probably last forever in a regular use situation.
Mighty Motorola! [Posted on 2008-04-22] I'm captain of a local paintball team in Portland, OR called The 143rd SOG and we have ten of these Motorola SX700R 2-way radios. They are the best I've ever used. Very sturdy and clear communication. They come with plenty of options and dont weigh a ton. I would recommend these to anyone.
