I'm very happy with this scanner. I needed to scan 9x12 sheets of paper and was frustrated that there either were none that could handle that size or they costed hundreds of dollars. It scans very lightly drawn pencil drawings on the high grey setting and scans color very nicely also. Note: If you scan the same image over and over, one that is lightly drawn, it may eventually process the image too bright in which case all you have to do is scan something darker or more colorful and it should scan the lightly drawn image more clearly again. A minor problem as far as I'm concerned. I owned an hp scanner prior to this purchase and it had it's glitches also. Scanners have to calculate complex graphics and they have to deal with the bright white paper and different hues of paper, so they do a pretty good job overall. I give it a 5 out of 5 stars.

I purchased this scanner based on the specs which said it would run off of Mac OS X but when I got it it failed to work and neither the seller nor Mustek would respond to my emails or phone messages.
Bottom line is:-If you have a Mac stay clear of this product. It does not support Mac and will only cause you headache and frustration.

I thought my prayers were answered with this scanner. I was excited that I could scan my comic work and not break my budget. BIG mistake. This thing will NOT run on a Mac. They pull you in by saying that it will but sorry...No. The disk, which states that it will run on OS X, does nothing. I even tried getting help online and downloading SANE drivers that are suppose to work with Photoshop...nothing. I went to Mustek's website and tried downloading the driver...a screen full of jumled greek text and symbols was all I got. I called their number...an indian who could barely speak english told me that he would send my problem to his higher-up and to try the website again in a couple of days. I did...and surprise, I got nothing. My advice is to STAY AWAY! At this point, it is worth the money to save up and buy a real A3 scanner instead of having to go through this. If you are running a PC, then good luck it might work...or you could be like me. Amazon should stop carrying this product until Mustek gets their act togther...if they ever will. I am never buying Mustek products again.

this has scaned several pictures a few as large as 11x17 and small as 3x4 and it does a fairly good job as an optical character reconition software. especially 8.5x14 legal size paper

Cheapest large format scanner you can get. Its perfect for scanning half sheet electrical or construction drawings. If you are looking for exact photo reproductions be prepared to spend more money. This paid for itself the first job I used it on. Noise and speed were not a priority, but size was.
