Nascar 2000 was pretty sweet [Posted on 2001-02-16] I've played quite a few driving sim games and this one is the most realistic I've seen yet. While playing the game, I turned up the sound to full blast to get the full effect. It has a few quirks as usual though. Pros: Graphics are much better than the old nascar games, the car actually handles exactly the way it was setup in the garage. You find your blood pressure rapidly increases while in the big races. All of the normal tracks are there, but in addition, they have added fantasy tracks that are sweet. (they wouldn't work in real life, but for game play, they work!) Cons: They could have added a few more voice files for the racing scenes. Listening to the tv broadcasters repeat over and over gets annoying. I wouldn't suggest to play this game without a stearing wheel, if you play on the keyboard or with a joystick, you won't be able to control the car around the other cars in the race. Another problem is when a race starts, you are dropped onto the track at about 50 MPH and if you dont get immediate control, you'll run right into the wall. You'll definitly want a fast machine to run this game, because when all the graphics and sounds are on, it can be a bit jumpy. I wouldn't suggest purchasing this game unless you have atleast a P2 500 mghrz with lots of ram and a big video card! I must admit it is fun to head the wrong way on the track at full speed. Crashes are fun to watch!! This game allows you to drive crazy and not make your insurance premium go up!
Good Quality, Missing Features [Posted on 2001-11-20] I have played Papyrus' game and EA Sports' but if they would only combine to make a great game. I feel that they are both missing key features that the other one has. I do recommend this game though, for its an ok version, but I fell it could be better because of the graphics, sound, and the gameplay is a bit unrealistic at times.
