nba live 08 is a solid basketball game. much better than nba live 07 (which was absolute trash). The graphics a better, the gameplay is better now that they got rid of that superstar system. the player hotspots are a nice touch especially for those who are not avid b-ball watchers and dont know who can shoot what from where. A couple of flaws as far as too much hand check fouling and charging calls. ive also played 2k8 which does look better. however live's controls are better. overall live 08 is a giant improvement from 07. still needs a few kinks to be worked out but is worth the money.

Based on the long hours my son spends playing with these games, I am gld to say that these games are GREAT!!!! The graphics and the video quality are superb....

THE GAME HAS A NICE FLOW TO IT, NO SLOW DOWN AT ALL, THE COLORS ARE BRIGHT AND CRISP, THE PLAYERS ARE VERY REAL & LIFE LIKE. IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A NBA BASKETBALL GAME THIS IS ABOUT AS CLOSE AS YOUR GONNA GET WITHOUT PAYING THE CRAZY PRICE, OH WELL THATS MY REVIEW,ENJOY THIS GAME AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, NBA 09 WILL BE HERE IN 9 MONTHS!!

I love this game. I have heard many complains, that this game is to arcadish and that NBA 2K8 is far more realistic. It might be, but if you want to have a realistic basketball expirence go outside and step on the court. If you want to have a great arcade expirence grab NBA LIVE 08.

Major flaw: Collision detection.
For whatever reason, EA has never really gotten the whole collision detection thing with it's NBA Live series. Players tend to slip and slide around each other and there is no real sense that playing defense is even remotely possible. I don't know how many times I've played this game online and watched someone dominate on the inside with a mediocre-at-best big man. It's so frustrating!!

With that being said...if you're looking for a run and gun, fast break basketball game...this is your game! It is fun to just cut loose and see how many points you can score. But if you are partial to fundamental, team basketball...this might be a bit of a disappointment.
