Hidden support for Windows XP SP3 [Posted on 2008-06-05] The installation CD will not work on Windows XP SP3. An installer is available for download but it is difficult to locate on the support web site. Let me save you some time: it is available in the support article for the NeatReceipts product and its support of SP3. Towards the end of the article will be a link for a Neat Business Cards installer. Tech support was not terribly helpful. Scanning directly into Outlook is far more convenient than the way CardScan works but the field assignment logic does not seem as intelligent.
Great business tool [Posted on 2008-07-05] The product is great as an organizational tool.Being in sales business cards are exchange and being able to put them in a file is a necessary to keep track of contacts. I use my laptop and having all the info readily available is paramount.
Buy something else. [Posted on 2008-09-03] I had expectations of how much time and effort this product would save me in collecting together the contact information from the large business card collection I have.
My expectations were trashed.
After installing this product and calibrating it according to the instructions I was unable to obtain anything other than a gray blur. It did not matter what business cards I used, color or B&W, large font vs. small font, cards with logos and without. All were treated the same by this ineffectual scanner. The images were all just gray blurs.
Adding insult to injury, the help file was no of help what so ever.
Basically it recommended "call tech support". If you are like me and need this gadget to save time. They you by definition have no time to call tech support. This is time that would be more productively spent getting a better product than this.
Let my misfortune with this product not be in vain! Buy something else!
Good riddance!
Best little scanner in town [Posted on 2008-09-10] I have to input business cards for several people. This gives me the ability to scan them into a "Neat Scans" contact list, then move them to the appropriate person's contact list. This saves me hours of data entry. This does a superb job of capturing everything on the card. The only thing to watch for is to make sure the name of the business gets input correctly. Most cards today have logos for the business name and the reader cannot translate them.
Great tool, slight issues... [Posted on 2008-09-15] Hi there,
This tool works wonders for those interested in saving time in the busy office environment. However, there are issues with the scanner reading and detecting all the text on the card accurately. For example, it will input most of the card data, but at times it is innacurate and you must proofread each card image to ensure the data is saved correctly.
However, if you want to quickly get your card info entered in, this unit is right for you!
