Most viruses are loaded to your computer unwelcomed. I am ashamed to say that I paid for this one. Norton Anti-Virus seemed to work fine for my computer. It was scanning anything questionable and updated itself daily (although I haven't any real evidence of it having protected me from anything -it served as a safety blanket). Then, after less than a year, my subscription expired and I decided not to renew it. That's when "Norton Anti-Virus" became The Norton Virus. From fourteen days before my subscription to Norton expired, Norton Virus has offered me (through means of a popup window) EVERY 24 HOURS whether I would like to renew my membership now, for $25, or tomorrow. EVERY SINGLE DAY this window appears, interrupting programs and crashing my computer! YOU CANNOT OPT-OUT OF THIS DAILY REMINDER! It is totally built-in. This is the first computer I have ever installed an anti-virus program onto and never have I ever had so much trouble with a virus; The Norton Virus. (perhaps the benefits outweigh this setback? I haven't any evidence to back-up such a hypothesis -but be forewarned)

they fix the numerous problems with their NAV suite; there are plenty of folks who have suffered after downloading unworkable virus definitions and you can not get in touch with Symantic to resolve problems. They take your subscription money ($29.00 US) and then leave their customers in the dust with non-working software. BOYCOTT SYMANTIC!!

Zero stars! Updates are no longer available for this version of Norton Anti-Virus (2002). This includes virus definition updates. This software came preinstalled on the Dell pc I bought late in 2002. A month ago, I paid $20 to renew my subscription, and then found out that updates are no longer available for this version. The only way I can use my subscription is to buy a new version of the software. After reading reviews of the later versions, I don't want any Norton/Symantec product. Their online customer service is abysmal (and also not even available for this version). If you want to use phone support (also not available for this version, but who'd want it) they charge you $29.95. This company is only interested in taking your money, and they couldn't care less about their customers.

The antivirus is not the best. It keeps telling me to subscribe for it when i already did, even twice. It does not update its virus definations, and some viruses have turned off or destroyed the email scanning. Don't buy it. it was good until all that happened. ( no offfence to norton intivirus Inc.)

2 years ago when I bought Norton Anti-virus, I thought it was great. Support was great, software was easy to use and did only what it needed, etc. Now I'm waiting for my license to run out on the 2007 verion. The software is still basically fine, but the support is now highly fee based. Also, their referance area of their website is plagued with errors which will send you to support. Support is just a fancy way of saying saying, "fancy conman who tries to scare you and the sell you support for 2 - 3 times the price of the software." Uh. . .No thanks, I'll just buy elsewhere.

My opinion. . .Pass on Norton and McAffee. Find one of the lesser known brands which works.
