StarCraft [Posted on 2007-11-29]
Wow, a great book.

I did not think there was a book series for the games. Nice suprise.
It adds depth to the games and explains a little of the conflict seen between all the races.

Unique StarCraft read [Posted on 2008-02-16]
After reading the complete waste of paper - "Queen of blades", this book has helped me to relax.

First of all, the author brings a very unique and grity style that dominates in the whole story. No other StarCraft book features details about such domestic subjects or talks about sex as openly.(Even though there is just a bit of talk about it). Plus, most of the story is set in the "Gutter" - a poor, neglected part of planet-city Tarsonis. The drug addiction, poverty surely proves that these problems would not be solved so easily in the future as well, and the authentic character talk makes the atmosphere realistic.

However, there is a flaw I found in this story. It actually is a factual problem. I just hate the idea that a ghost would be able to kill the person just by his own thoughts. OK, maybe if he concentrates very, very much, but slay an entire building full of people? Plus, how could you jam a gun with your thoughts? This is ridiculous! If Ghosts are such X-Men why do they even bother carrying weapons! They could send one such individual, order him to kill an entire army and there simply would be no battles! Absolutely way too unrealistic, even beyond fiction levels!

And so, that makes this book an average read. I know why the game was cancelled, though. The creators probably just didn't have a point in creating a game where you could push a button(mind power)and kill all your enemies...

Nova (Starcraft Ghost) [Posted on 2008-06-01]
This was a verry good read. The author wrote in a way that you were easily drawn into the story and wanted to know what was next. It gives an interesting insight into the developement of one of my favorite game characters and the background of the confederacy. Well worth my time.

A cliche, boring, and utterly immature thrashing of the Starcraft uviverse [Posted on 2008-06-26]
Both my friend and I read this book, and we came to the same conclusion: it is childish, boring, and is better avoided all together. This book is what a child would write, if he could, the only concern being how "cool" he could make the different characters act. The problem arises when most of this "cool" comes off as cheesy. Apparently, humanity's future consists of all dialogue being written by the writers of Robocop, and the cliche future he imagines comes off as unimaginative, and the sooner I could leave this senseless world, the better.
I dont recommend this book. It barely focuses on the Ghost, instead choosing to focus on Nova before she becomes a ghost. Nova.... a character about as deep as a kiddie pool. Everything she says is so stock, that you can skip entire chapters and still know what is going on, she is just that predicatble.
The rest of it is all the same, with the focus being on events not characters. The problem is, when your events are boring, you need to balance it out with good characterization. Something the author does not do. The result is a book that falls flat on itself, and fails to deliver that fanfiction high every Starcraft fan craves.

Dissapointing especialy since the games not coming... [Posted on 2008-07-22]
The entire book was about her surrviving in the shaddy part of a big city. There were no epic battles, no intruige, and none of the classic wit of the starcraft franchize. This book seems too much a prequel; the entire book seemed like an introduction. I reached the end and was quite dissapointed that I suffered through the enire plot in search of something good, that couldn't be found. If the game were ever released, then this book would be more bearable, but as it is I would not recomend it to anyone.
