Simploy the best [Posted on 2007-07-03]
This is my third pair of this DDRs. They are awesome stable and overclock very well too.
Best DDR available IMO.

Awesome! [Posted on 2008-03-09]
Running Vista Ultimate smoothly on my X2 4200+ with this pair. I've been impressed by OCZ. Thanks guys.

Fast & Reliable [Posted on 2008-07-17]
I got two sets of these, after benchmarking & testing the first set. (Getting them at a discount was also nice. :^) These replaced 1GB of (5-year old) Corsair XMS sticks that were throwing memory errors at even relaxed timings.

The OCZ's are HEAVY -- the heat spreaders are not just glitzy DIMM wrappers to make the memory sticks look fancy; they're thick & serious about sucking the heat out of these guys when under heavy load. In fact, I had to put shims between each pair to open an air channel between them, as the DIMM slots in my mobo were not designed with thick DIMMS in mind. Capping that with a memory fan ensures that they'll stay cool and hopefully last longer than the Corsairs did.

The first set I put in ran at 2-3-2-6 / 800MHz (DDR400) using MemTest86 running overnight with no errors, but the second couldn't handle the short timings (even though they're advertised to do so). Better yet, both sets would run reliably at 3-4-3-8 / 1000MHz (DDR500), overclocking my system by 25%. That gives me just shy of 3200 MB/sec memory bandwidth, with the added advantage of clocking the rest of my system 25% faster. The higher mem BW + reduced disk access has breathed new life into my P4 system -- it really screams now!

OCZ RAM upgrade saved my system [Posted on 2008-09-10]
Hallelujah! Here is my story. I was getting 3-4 blue screens a day on my XP-Pro system, with driver problems, dead USB ports, page faults, and other nightmare malfunctions.

These weird intermittent problems led me to suspect that my RAM (Transcend) might have had some electrical flaws, so I decided to try a couple of fresh sticks of doublemint. Popped in a brace of these OCZ 1 GB beauties and fired up. The system auto-detected the new latencies and has run perfectly for a month now.

Highly recommended.

OCZ quality! Cool heat spreaders [Posted on 2008-09-13]
OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

The OCZ Platinum 2GB kit came in a simple blister pack that can be re-sealed. I installed the two sticks (2x 1GB) into a Dell and it automatically detected and set the correct timings (based on SPD data I presume). I ran the latest Sisoft Sandra and observed the memory timings are listed as 2.5-2-3-2-5, rather than the advertised 2-3-2-5 on Newegg and other sources. Apparently the CAS latency is only 2.5 versus the advertised 2.0 at least with this motherboard. The RAM worked well but I didn't see how I could justify paying a premium for "performance" when It really didn't offer anything substantial over generic 184-pin DDR RAM other than OCZ quality/reliability. The weight of each memory stick is noticeably heavy due to the addition of the heat spreaders. This won't be a problem for most desktop users, but the LAN party folks who like to shed as much weight from their rigs should take notice.

Newegg's Egg Saver shipping took 6 calendar days to deliver the RAM, and the OCZ rebate requires a postmark date within 12 calendar days from the date of purchase.

Pros: Easy to install, cool looking heat spreaders. OCZ quality.

Cons: Auto SPD settings will default to CAS of 2.5 on certain motherboards.

Overall: This RAM kit was still priced competitively with other brands, but I don't see any incentive to buying it over a more generic OCZ model since the CAS latency defaults to 2.5 instead of 2.0. This memory went out of style years ago, so I doubt many people will even pay attention to this review. OCZ appears to make robust memory so I am not too disappointed.
