Doesn't work well with my DVR [Posted on 2008-04-21]
I bought this product to hook up my DVR, PS3 and HDMI-powered DVD player to my Pioneer plasma, which has a single HDMI input. It actually does the job, however, my DVR experienced diminished significantly. There is a major delay with sound when I change TV channels. Also, whenever I record something on my DVR, the Oppo Switch has to be switched to the DVR mode. Otherwise, I get no sound.

I have a 60" Panasonic HDTV, but with only 1 HDMI input connection. The OPPO HM-31 Certified HDMI 1.3 and 1080p Switch solves that problem. Believe me, this device works as advertise. For less than a hundred dollars you get to add 3 additional HDMI input connections to your TV. Now I have my PC, PS3 and cable box hooked to my TV, all in digital. Everything looks so amazing. From Blu-Ray movies to PS3 games to regular TV or HDTV. It all is so damn good. I kick myself for not getting this sooner.

After purchasing one of the new OPPO DVD players awhile back and being very satisfied with the thing, I found the two HDMI plugs on the back of my HDTV very limiting and also a real pain to have to stop and change cables anytime I wished to plug in another HDMI device. This switch is the answer for me and works very well.

I have had a good experience with this switch. It does have a small delay between signals as it figures out the HDMI handshake, but nothing too horrible. The signal is great, no sparkles at all. I love the auto-switching feature for sure so I never have to use the remote unless I want to switch to the DirecTV while the PS3 or Xbox 360 are still on. Strange thing is the Xbox will restart itself every time you switch the signal away and back to it. I believe that is the Xbox's "feature" and not the Oppo's.

Works exactly as intended.

Hooked this up to my Dish HDDVR and my 42" plasma and it works flawlessly.

Very cheap when you consider you are adding 2 more HDMI ports.

Very solid build quality. This isn't a cheap plastic box that feels like there's nothing inside like so many of these types of products do. It also comes packaged in a nice fabric sleeve with the OPPO brandname on it.

You don't need to know anything else! Buy this!
