Bought this unit to replace a failing transcription unit from Dictaphone. It was easy to install, and worked with the DSS recording program from Olympus with almost no switch over problems.

Does not work with Mac, even though specs say it does [Posted on 2008-01-08]
This product, contrary to the specs, does NOT work with a Mac. The reference manual leaves out huge chunks of what you need to know to run the software, as does the embedded "help." I called the Olympus support line and this is an exact quote from the "technician": "Umm....... [long pause]." If you have a Windows machine, knock yourself out, but if you have a Mac, STAY AWAY.

This product arrived and when I attmepted to install the CD that came with it, I did not have a serial number. The booklet referred me to the CD packaging, but the package was not sealed. I find this very odd and perhaps thie product was previously used even though I purchased it new????????

This is great for typing from audio transcriptions (which I do alot). The only thing is that I have to turn the pedal around so that the rewind side would be on the left side (I don't know why they put it on the right side).

I had been waiting for some thing like this for a while and finally I am able to do the digital dictations without much hassle and at a very affordable price.

I purchased an Olympus DS 2300 recoder, put a 512mb card and I have 84 hours of recording time. The voice is clear and crisp compared to tape recorders, backup is a snap, and software is very intuitive.

I just bought another DS 2300 recorder for a backup in case I drop mine in a coffe cup.
