Nice Graphics Card for the money. [Posted on 2008-03-15] I have a older PC that just has on board video card and after installing Vista a lot of the cool stuff Vista does wouldn't work as my old video card wouldn't support it. I installed this card and with a little fussing about I got it going and all the cool Vista stuff worked just fine. My Vista score rating for my PC went from 1.0 to 2.9.
All in all it was a good product to upgrade an older PC that just has a PCI slot.
Underpowered!! [Posted on 2008-03-28] Planning to run this card on a Windows Vista machine?? don't!!! The performance score is 2.4 and 2.5 for office apps and games respectively. Choppy graphics, colors look run down and I just sent it back to Amazon. Planning to buy a card with at least 512 MB RAM for Windows Vista.
very nice deal [Posted on 2008-04-14] The video card works just as we'd hoped. We can put a video on the TV, via the computer, while hubby still works on the copmuter. Picture is nice, and setting it up was fairly easy (never heard complaints from hubby about it). Hubby's games work with this card (didn't work before), have very nice graphics and play nicely (not jumpy).
One downside, which is a problem with the TV, not the video card. With the S-video plugged in, the DVD player doesn't work; we have to disconnect the S-video first.
An FYI: keep in mind that any video card won't deal with audio. I hadn't given it much thought, and found myself disappointed (even though, logically, its a *video* card, not audio). The sound still comes from the computer speakers. Its not a problem with the video card, just an FYI for those who are about as techy as I am, and maybe haven't given that aspect any consideration.
TOTALLY USELESS!!! [Posted on 2008-04-21] I have a fairly new machine and wanted to turn it into a media center so I bought this card. The box claimed that it supported Vista but it doesn't work for me so I popped in a different drive to install XP with MCE. That process does not solve the problem either. The video jiggered after a few minutes after every power on or reboot.
Giving it a benifit of a doubt, I installed the new drivers (Vista and XP) from their website to see what happen. BAD IDEA!!! Both Vista and XP got blue screen and while loop of reboot. After uninstalling this problem card and its driver, both Vista and XP are (no media center, but...) working fine now.
Basic model [Posted on 2008-05-02] Basic model video card, works well, have never had a problem with one. Not top shelf but most surely good for above standard graphics needs.
