Big and powerful [Posted on 2008-01-08] This card is very fast. It's nice to be able to play virtually all games at max settings in 1920x1200 resolution. Upgraded from a 8400GS, noticed a big difference in performance.
Read some comments about the card running hot, but so far mine hasn't gone above the mid 60s. The card is pretty pricey, it was a lot more expensive than the 8400GS. I was hoping to get a 8800GT, but that was either out of stock or even more overpriced.
This card is also very long and bulky. Barely had enough room to connect the PCI-E pin. It also effectively took up 3 slots, had to take the sound card out and move it down to the last slot. Overall, I am satisfied, since now I can play a lot of the games I couldn't before.
Intel Celeron 430 1.8 GHz, Foxconn 945G7MC, Kingston 768MB PC3200, WD1600AAJB 160GB IDE, Westinghouse L2410NM monitor.
Great card for the price [Posted on 2008-04-30] I'm running this card in a DELL workstation running dual Xeon 3.4 GHz processors with 4 GB RAM and thee eSATA hard drives. The computer itself is lightning fast and the video card has taken the computer to the next level. I can run Crysis and very high resolutions with smooth frame rates. I couldn't do that before with my old 512 MB video card. Even though this card doesn't add any more RAM, it does have a faster processor and chipset.
Interestingly, I dual-boot this workstation with Windows Vista, Windows XP and Linux. In Windows Vista, this card took up the graphics rating (in the performance index) by 8/10 of a point. For the performance gain I've received, I expected the number to jump by a bit more. However, I'm very satisfied.
