A lot of small annoyances add up to a bad product [Posted on 2008-01-24]
I bought this phone to replace my old 900mHz Panasonic cordless phone, which I had for years, but once I moved out of a studio apartment, I needed a phone with more range. Unfortunately, I bought this phone.

The phone works as advertised, the signal is strong, and the voice quality is great, but everything else about this phone is awful:

1. The ringer at the base is MUCH louder than the ringer on the handset. If they are anywhere near each other, the base drowns out the ringing of the handset, making it impossible to locate by sound (there is no independant volume for the base.

2. The speaker phone is located on the handset. This is possibly the dumbest thing ever. In my old Panasonic phone, if I could not locate the receiver, I could just answer fromn the base using the speaker phone. With this model, if you do not find the phone in time, you miss your call.

3. The LEDs are in the wrong place. The back-lit lcd screen is great, and generally easy to read, but unlike previous Panasonic models, the keypad is not backlit. Without backlit keys, dialing in the dark is difficult, and with all the superfluous buttons on the keypad (more than my cell-phone) dialing in the dark is impossible.

4. The voice-ID is the most annoying thing in the world. The phone will actually call out the name of the person calling you (as long as their name is in your pre-set phone book), but this option cannot be shut off. There are directions in the owners manual to disable it, and I followed those directions, the display says that this feature is disabled, but the phone still spouts off in an annoying female voice "Call from Veri-zone Weer-ells" any time someone calls me from a cell-phone.

The attached answering machine has it's own problems, but the sum of it all is that Panasonic has taken a huge step backwards in the usability of their phones.

This phone is so annoying that I am going back to my old 900mHz phone, and will just deal with the static when I wander into the kitchen.

Good quality phone [Posted on 2008-02-16]
Compact and clear sounded cordless phone. The only down side I saw is the blinking of the new messages is very fair in bright room, you sometimes miss to check messages until later. Overall, recommended.

Great Buy [Posted on 2008-04-12]
I am very happy with my purchase. I have found Panasonic to be the best brand in cordless phones. It's easy to hear the person on the other end which has not been true with other brands I've had. My favorite features with this phone are the talking CID and the different musical ring tones. I don't have to pick up the phone and look to see who's calling. My only minor complaint is that it doesn't have memory speed dial feature. Nothing that I can't live without but it would've made it 5 stars for me if it had this feature. Otherwise this is a great buy and I'm very happy with it.

A Great Cordless For Those On A Budget [Posted on 2008-04-15]
I wanted a cordless which was not too expensive. My old cordless was an expensive V-TECK, which worked well for four years. But, I didn't want to invest $150 plus for a replacement. I made a mistake and purchased a cheap NORTHWESTERN BELL, which I had to throw out. I shopped again, and after looking, I purchased the PANASONIC KX-TG6051M 5.9 GHz cordless for approximately $60. So far, my PANASONIC has worked well.

For those who don't mind doing a little programming, this is a good deal for the price. The sound quality is great, and I like being able to adjust the various settings. The style is also neat. It fits comfortably in my hand. I am not sure how this cordless does when off the charger for long periods because I don't usually have hour-plus telephone conversations. Overall, I've been pleased with this cordless. I would caution those of you're looking to purchase a new cordless, to not buy anything under $50. You might be disappointed.

Very nice phone [Posted on 2008-04-19]
I bought this phone to replace a Motorola that was eating batteries. Setup was easy, the menu's aren't too intuitive but I've seen worse. Call volume is wonderful, battery life as well. My wife has talked for over an hour, and it still shows a full battery. It reads the caller id, which is very cool as well, no getting up to find out it's a telemarketer.
