Nice phone, but... [Posted on 2008-04-28] This is a nice phone, looks sleek, good menu system, the wallpaper is pretty nice too. Only bad thing is the ringer isn't very loud. It doesn't have a ringer in the base and the ringer in the handset, at full volume, isn't very loud. If you're in the bathroom with the exhaust fan running you'd better take the phone with you. I had it sitting on the coffee table not 12 feet away and could not hear it ringing while the exhaust fan was running. I like everything else about this phone but the ringer, which knocks one star off the total. Don't know what Panasonic was thinking by not putting a ringer in the base. -kd5-
A high quality cordless phone [Posted on 2008-04-28] I highly recommend this purchase. The sound quality is good. The screen is nice. The menu features are easy to use. The DECT technology works as advertised. Pansonic makes the best cordless phones in my opinion. My only complaint is that the phone is not the most comfortable against your ear but it's not bad and certainly not a reason not to buy this phone.
Small and great sound at a good price [Posted on 2008-05-06] I bought this phone specifically to go with my new ooma Hub VoIP Phone Device and put the older Philips CD 4401 High DefVoice Cordless Speaker Phone on the ooma Scout. Since ooma includes voicemail that works like an answering machine, but can also be retruieved, etc. with the phone or via the web, I did not need an answering machine function of this phone, but at the price and with it's small size, and not wanting another Philips (due to it's cumbersome, unintuitively navigated menus), I decided to give it a try.
By comparison, the new Panasonic KX-TG8231B phone is smaller and has clearer sound, though the color screen is silly and utterly pointless, especially since there are only three silly wallpapers, and five color themes (none of which I really like, but that is all incidental, and I don't really care otherwise, especialyl since 995 of the time, the phone is on it's charging base on my desk, during which the display stays lit so you can easily see the caller ID and if there were any missed calls. The ooma lights up if there are messages in it's voice mail and is instantly accessible, so I turned off the phone's answering machine entirely, though if Amazon ad the same phone without the answering machine, I would have purchased it instead.
The two things I would have preferred to see done differently about this phone (other than remove the answering machine) would be some sot of connection, whether USB or BLuetooth to a computer to synchronize with an address book such as on my Mac, and ditch the silly color display for a more efficient OLED version. Otherwise, it's an okay phone, which I do prefer over the Philips.
Just OK [Posted on 2008-05-07] I bought this phone hoping the battery life would be better than the previous phone. That part is fine. The worst problem is when people hang up on the answering machine and it records that annoying tone for minutes at a time!
I came home to only two messages plus three hang ups and the machine was full.
Not a good investment for a business phone!
Great phone with a color screen [Posted on 2008-05-07] I saw this product on sale at Target and decided to give it a try. There was something wrong with the display, though so I returned it. Saw the same phone at a great price on Amazon, though, and based on other reviews, I gave it another chance and bought it again. I've had it for about two months now and I'm very happy. I like the sleek design and small footprint of the unit. I also like the color display although it only gives you 3 display options (other phones allow you to upload your own photo). The ring tone options could also be better. But otherwise, I'm satisfied with the design and basic functions. My previous phone was a Panasonic, too and it lasted about 6 years so I'm hoping this one will last just as long.
