Excellent value [Posted on 2008-01-14] This product works as advertised. The auto-switching works great except when multiple devices are turned on at the same time, then you can manually select the input. I only use 2 devices (DirectTV HD DVR and XBox 360) and it turns out that the order does matter....DirectTV doesn't stop the video signal when in standby mode so loading the XBox into position 1 gave the desired results. Compared to other similar products this is a great value for a great product.
Philips SWV6813 HDMI Auto 3 to 1 switch [Posted on 2008-06-07] Product worked as described no problems at all. I sure did'nt need another remote or get up and push manual buttons. I highly recommend this switch.
Will this unit will work with your HDMI sources?? [Posted on 2008-06-30] I bought this unit after reading the positive reviews, but am returning it now after a poor experience. Some facts that weren't apparent - compatibility with your HDMI source is certainly not assured. I was "0 for 2" on my sources - neither worked satisfactorily. Here's what I found with two sources running through this HDMI switch box running to a Samsung LNS4696 LCD (YMMV):
1 - Verizon/Motorola HDTV cable box: video appeared, but only at a reduced screen size and resolution. Lots of experimentation with cycling power, order of power-up of source/switch/display, switch input line, etc. No acceptable solution found.
2 - D-Line DSM-520 MediaLounge player: video failed to appear for every attempted configuration.
3 - I had to use Manual mode when attempting to view source 2 and 3; seems the cable box always presents an HDMI output signal of some sort, even when power is 'off'. Not a show-stopper for use (the unit thankfully has a Manual mode!), but something to know...
Signal Switcher or Blocker??? [Posted on 2008-07-03] This item was purchased to connect DirecTV HD and Toshiba DVD HD to a Panasonic HDTV that has only one HDMI input. Having read the previous review regarding the DirecTV signal I used cables that I know were good and positioned the devices in every possible position and even with just one device at a time plugged into slot 1 I could never get a signal through the switch Two days after receipt it was returned and I'm waiting for a refund.
