Terrible audio [Posted on 2008-07-02] This was a very expensive headset, and I have had to give up using it. Everyone on the other end says that they have difficulty hearing me and that it sounds like my call is breaking up.
This Device Stinks [Posted on 2008-07-12] Hello:
I had this for 4 days. Couldn't stand it. Driving in the car with air conditioning on, and it was WORSE than my Motorolla H700. It's clumbsy, awkward, and very hard on the ears when you want to place a call.
I do NOT recommend it.
Flimsy [Posted on 2008-07-14] I have owned 2 Plantronics headsets -- The 665 and its predecessor, the 655. Both have suffered the same fate. The little rubber ear tips are flimsy and keep breaking. When I pick up the headset, the ear tip falls out. I purchased the ear tip replacement pack, which costs about $10 and you get 3 ear tips -- 1 small, 1 medium, and 1 large. Given that I only have a need for 1 size, I basically had to pay $10 for one ear tip... which broke after 30 days. The headset sounds pretty good, fits in my ear OK, and people say they can hear me pretty well. Despite all of these positives, I will be replacing it with another brand.
Planatronics 665 Bluetooth [Posted on 2008-08-09] Very good clarity, so much so that you have to turn the volume down. With other ear pieces - at maximum - still could not hear. Convenient car charger. Stays in the ear perfectly - 3 sizes to choose from - to fit everyone.
Re-assemble daily [Posted on 2008-08-24] I've been very frustrated by this product.
Problem #1: I purchased it because I needed a small ear bud, which it has as one of the 3 interchangeable ear buds. The problem is that the ear bud doesn't snap in securely so it falls off every time I move the headset (really, EVERY time). I use the doodad that hooks the headset around my ear and when the ear bud falls off, this does too. I'm constantly looking for these 2 pieces so I can re-assemble the headset. There is no way I could grab the headset quickly and put it on for an incoming call; instead I have to be wearing it in anticipation of receiving calls. Very annoying and inconvenient.
Problem #2: I can no longer turn it off, after about 3 weeks of use. It is constantly paired with my phone, which means if I'm in the vicinity of the headset, I can't use the phone without the headset unless I set my phone to "Bluetooth off".
Problem #3: The volume control buttons are too small to use during a call, especially if driving. It's hard to tell if I'm pressing them unless I press so hard that I dent my head.
Looks like I've got to spend the money on a new headset. Ugh.
